A quick Google search indicated that this is a fairly common message and the only remedy is replacement of the head unit. I guess you will have to take it to the dealer if you are still under warranty. Otherwise, a trip to most any audio shop should be able to replace the head unit. __________________ 09 Jetta Sportwagen, Blue Graphite Metallic, DSG, Sunroof, Rubber mats, Zeta Products body color side moldings, Body color door edge guards, VW front and rear Splash Guards, Clear rear bumper protector, 8" "Stubby" antenna. Well... Now it's full on and I am a month out of my CPO warranty. I am going to take it to the dealer and anyway and see if they will take care of it and go from there. But that's another story. Outside the bummer of having the unit go south... I did find a "hack" or workaround that lets you: 1. Reclaim CD's, 2. Use the unit A BIG CAVIAT I am sure this doesn't apply to everyone's unit as I am sure the cause of CDC HARDWARE ERROR's will vary. But... if you have noting to lose... Hopefully this will come in handy for someone out there has been looking for a quick fix to a frustrating problem. This is how I was able to reclaim the 3 discs that were in the unit and play CD's again. Here it goes... REMOVING THE ERROR - Turn on unit - Select CD - CHIME! Error message displays "CDC HARDWARE ERROR" (yup, this applies to you) - Turn off unit - Push a CD (preferably one you don't care about) as far as you can into the unit **Get ready to grab the CD** - Turn the unit on **Get ready to grab the CD** - Grab the CD the second time the unit pushes it out... It will push out the CD, suck it back in

I had subsequently charged the same battery and it was running for about a week. However the battery was dead so I had it replaced. I disconnected the radio so now I have to reset the system. My iPod dock and CD player won't work, but the radio does. Since the dealers are currently closed I've turned to the forums, and since I bought my car used from a dealer they told me to look online for the owner manual. When I got my new battery they told me the way to reset the CD player was through a series of codes. Like pressing eject, load, turning the key off the on. I was wondering if there was anyone with experience DrEos View Public Profile Send a private message to DrEos Find More Posts by DrEos Remove Advertisements Sponsored Links VW Eos Forum Advertisement 04-25-2015, 06:33 AM #2 DrEos Junior Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: Ohio Posts: 24 Just to update. I called the dealership and they said as long as I get the serial number from the side of the CD player (which means removing it from the dash), the VIN and proof of ownership (through a state issued ID) that they can supply me with the code to unlock the CD player again. So there is a light shining at the end of the tunnel. I always make a point of getting that info from the selling dealer or if they don't have it, get them to take out the kit and get it! If you can trace the previous owner from the registration documentation, that may be an easier route. Your EOS should have come with quite a substantial driver manual wh
