A quick Google search indicated that this is a fairly common message and the only remedy is replacement of the head unit. I guess you will have to take it to the dealer if you are still under warranty. Otherwise, a trip to most any audio shop should be able to replace the head unit. __________________ 09 Jetta Sportwagen, Blue Graphite Metallic, DSG, Sunroof, Rubber mats, Zeta Products body color side moldings, Body color door edge guards, VW front and rear Splash Guards, Clear rear bumper protector, 8" "Stubby" antenna. Well... Now it's full on and I am a month out of my CPO warranty. I am going to take it to the dealer and anyway and see if they will take care of it and go from there. But that's another story. Outside the bummer of having the unit go south... I did find a "hack" or workaround that lets you: 1. Reclaim CD's, 2. Use the unit A BIG CAVIAT I am sure this doesn't apply to everyone's unit as I am sure the cause of CDC HARDWARE ERROR's will vary. But... if you have noting to lose... Hopefully this will come in handy for someone out there has been looking for a quick fix to a frustrating problem. This is how I was able to reclaim the 3 discs that were in the unit and play CD's again. Here it goes... REMOVING THE ERROR - Turn on unit - Select CD - CHIME! Error message displays "CDC HARDWARE ERROR" (yup, this applies to you) - Turn off unit - Push a CD (preferably one you don't care about) as far as you can into the unit **Get rea

TO be sure, you need to pull the fuse to the radio, then put it back in to see if it resets. A dealer can't help you all that much either, they'll just want to replace the head unit. Then you'd have to take the other one apart to get the CDs out, which is why I never use my originals in car radios. After puling the fuse, when you try to eject/load/CD button of it says "PLEASE WAIT" on the screen, and stays there, at least you got the radio. Here is how to remove the radio, a post with the CDC error:http://www.justanswer.com/vw-volkswa...jetta-6cd.html Reply With Quote 11-15-2014 05:11 PM #3 2point5 View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries Member Join Date Aug 2011 Posts 72 Re: MK5 Jetta Radio malfunction CDC Hardware Error Two weeks ago shop did battery load test. However, if there is no chance of this, chances are the radio itself is going bad. The radio itself will store fault codes. If there is a dealer near you, they could actually check it to see what faults are stored. I have to be honest, I have seen this happen and the radio, after a few days, start working again. However, shortly thereafter, they go bad again. SPONSORED LINKS Was this answer helpful?YesNo Saturday, November 15th, 2014 AT 5:43 PM Please login or register to post a reply.
