How to fix it? (Without taking to the dealer)? I own a 2005 VW new Jetta. Last week when I was listening to a CD I switched to the FM radio which is a normal task that I've done without any issues in the past. But at that time I suddently got the following error message on the audio unit display: "CDC Hardware error". Since then the CD player of the Audio unit is not functioning at all (It freezez and reads: "Please wait.." then it reads: "CDC hardware error" again...the CD eject and insert, etc. don't work either). The Radio works with issues; every 2 minutes it gives the same error "CDC hardware error", then radio works ok for another 2 minutes. Is there anyway I could repair the unit without taking to the dealership? They charge outrageous fees for little issues and I obviously no longer have the warranty. Extra details: The audio unit has a CD changer with 6 slots, MP3 playing capability (No ipod connecti
sunnybunny12-12-2007, 06:06 PMOK, I did a search before posting this and couldn't find anything... Last week I was in an accident. I was rear-ended. Well I finally got the ok from their insurance co to take it into the shop http://volkswagenownersclub.com/vw/archive/index.php/t-4833.html tomorrow to be repaired. So, I decided it would be a good idea to clean out any valuables. Well I had the 6 disk cd loaded with my favorites (Snotty, I thought you'd appreciate these and if you http://www.vweosclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19313 can guess any of their last names you get a big gold star! ;)), Joni M, John D, Bob D, Pat M, Bad Co and last but not least, Richard T, and went to eject the first hardware error cd and got the following message ÃÂCDC HARDWARE ERRORÃÂ. Veddy, Veddy interestingÃÂ I was unable to remove any of the cdÃÂs. Any clues anyone? Thanks, Sunny Bunny rangerbrown12-12-2007, 06:36 PMsounds like it jamed, have the dealer add it to the qoute to get them back.fixed jaylind12-12-2007, 06:51 PMsounds like it jamed, have the dealer add it to the qoute to get them back.fixed DING DING DING... That's the answer I would have picked. But.... cdc hardware error I think the body shop will not do this. The dealer would have to look at it and then either warranty it or give you an estimate to give the insurance.. Of course if your bodyshop and dealer are one and the same.. It will be simpler. JAy sunnybunny12-12-2007, 07:11 PMJay, I know, that would have been simpler but...my dealer is about 40 miles down the road and I'm sure they would have farmed it out to a body shop and I wouldn't have the control that I have with the shop I picked. The shop I picked has been the #1 body shop 10 years running and they're not too far from my office. I will just let them know tomorrow when I drop it off and I will call the dealer to see if I can't get them to just order it based on the error. I did some research after I posted and it appears that this error is unrepairable and dealers are just replacing the hole unit but they have to order it. I'll let you know what I find out. Sunny Bunny loomer01-13-2010, 07:40 PMThread is from awhile ago, so I am wondering if anyone has recently gotten this? Just happened to me tonight. If someone has, any quick fix? djwhiplash200101-13-2010, 07:41 PMCDC Hardware error = de

I had subsequently charged the same battery and it was running for about a week. However the battery was dead so I had it replaced. I disconnected the radio so now I have to reset the system. My iPod dock and CD player won't work, but the radio does. Since the dealers are currently closed I've turned to the forums, and since I bought my car used from a dealer they told me to look online for the owner manual. When I got my new battery they told me the way to reset the CD player was through a series of codes. Like pressing eject, load, turning the key off the on. I was wondering if there was anyone with experience DrEos View Public Profile Send a private message to DrEos Find More Posts by DrEos Remove Advertisements Sponsored Links VW Eos Forum Advertisement 04-25-2015, 06:33 AM #2 DrEos Junior Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: Ohio Posts: 24 Just to update. I called the dealership and they said as long as I get the serial number from the side of the CD player (which means removing it from the dash), the VIN and proof of ownership (through a state issued ID) that they can supply me with the code to unlock the CD player again. So there is a light shining at the end of the tunnel. I always make a point of getting that info from the selling dealer or if they don't have it, get them to take out the kit and get it! If you can trace the previous owner from the registration documentation, that may be an easier route. Your EOS should have come with quite a substantial driver manual which sits in the top slot of the glove box. Mine has several pockets inside and one contains the radio code. The owners manual is quite good with lots of info
