a CD I switched to the FM radio which is a normal task that I've done without any issues in the past. But at that time I suddently got the following error message on the audio unit display: "CDC Hardware error". Since then the CD player of the Audio unit is not functioning at all (It freezez and reads: "Please wait.." then it reads: "CDC hardware error" again...the CD eject and insert, etc. don't work either). The Radio works with issues; every 2 minutes it gives the same error "CDC hardware error", then radio works ok for another 2 minutes. Is there anyway I could repair the unit without taking to the dealership? They charge outrageous fees for little issues and I obviously no longer have the warranty. Extra details: The audio unit has a CD changer with 6 slots, MP3 playing capability (No ipod connection). 3 following 8 answers 8 Report Abuse Are you sure you want to delete this answer? I have now pulled out the CD but no change. Any ideas I sure don't want to take this to a dealer ship to get it fixed if I can keep from it. A quick Google search indicated that this is a fairly common message and the only remedy is replacement of the head unit. I guess you will have to take it to the dealer if you are still under warranty. Otherwise, a trip to most any audio shop should be able to replace the head unit. __________________ 09 Jetta Sportwagen, Blue Graphite Metallic, DSG, Sunroof, Rubber mats, Zeta Products body color side moldings, Body color door edge guards, VW front and rear Splash Guards, Clear rear bumper protector, 8" "Stubby" antenna. sunnybunny12-12-2007, 06:06 PMOK, I did a search before posting this and couldn't find anything... Last week I was in an accident. I was rear-ended. Well I finally got the ok from their insurance co to take it into the shop tomorrow to be repaired. http://volkswagenownersclub.com/vw/archive/index.php/t-4833.html So, I decided it would be a good idea to clean out any valuables. Well I had the 6 disk cd loaded with my favorites (Snotty, I thought you'd appreciate these and if you can guess any of their last http://www.fixya.com/cars/t21228548-cdc_hardware_error_vw_jetta_2009 names you get a big gold star! ;)), Joni M, John D, Bob D, Pat M, Bad Co and last but not least, Richard T, and went to eject the first cd and got the following message ÃÂCDC HARDWARE hardware error ERRORÃÂ. Veddy, Veddy interestingÃÂ I was unable to remove any of the cdÃÂs. Any clues anyone? Thanks, Sunny Bunny rangerbrown12-12-2007, 06:36 PMsounds like it jamed, have the dealer add it to the qoute to get them back.fixed jaylind12-12-2007, 06:51 PMsounds like it jamed, have the dealer add it to the qoute to get them back.fixed DING DING DING... That's the answer I would have picked. But.... I think the body shop will not do this. The dealer would cdc hardware error have to look at it and then either warranty it or give you an estimate to give the insurance.. Of course if your bodyshop and dealer are one and the same.. It will be simpler. JAy sunnybunny12-12-2007, 07:11 PMJay, I know, that would have been simpler but...my dealer is about 40 miles down the road and I'm sure they would have farmed it out to a body shop and I wouldn't have the control that I have with the shop I picked. The shop I picked has been the #1 body shop 10 years running and they're not too far from my office. I will just let them know tomorrow when I drop it off and I will call the dealer to see if I can't get them to just order it based on the error. I did some research after I posted and it appears that this error is unrepairable and dealers are just replacing the hole unit but they have to order it. I'll let you know what I find out. Sunny Bunny loomer01-13-2010, 07:40 PMThread is from awhile ago, so I am wondering if anyone has recently gotten this? Just happened to me tonight. If someone has, any quick fix? djwhiplash200101-13-2010, 07:41 PMCDC Hardware error = dead CD player, sorry.
