Dell Printer Hardware Error 0502
RSS Dell A940 Hardware Error 502 This question is not answered Posted by RBlauvelt dell a960 hardware error 0502 on 7 Mar 2009 14:19 My Dell A940 all-in-one printer cannot print anymore. Partway through a page, it stops... the display reads "Hardware Error 502" while the computer displays a message about a "Cartridge Stall." Note that the error happens even when the printer is disconnected from the computer and used in the "Copy" mode. I found a page on the Dell site about re-seating the encoder strip to resolve 502 errors, but (1) the strip wasn't out of position, and (2) fiddling with it and ensuring it's properly seated doesn't change the errors. I've also changed out the cartridges to no avail. I'm about to take the printer (about 5 years old) to a recycling center and get an HP! I cannot print, How do I fix this? Posted 12/29/2012 Umair Mirza Dell Certified Tech Thank you for your question. My name is Umair and i will be assisting you with this issue. This error usually results due to resistance in the cartridges. The silver bar that your print cartridges glide back and forth is most probably causing the problem. When the motor that moves the cartridges left and right have too much resistance, you can get the hardware error 0502. Take some kleenex, and with power unplugged, clean the bar very well. Then Spray some WD-40 on a Kleenex, and lubricate the shaft. This should eliminate the resistance between the cartridges and your printer should work fine. Please let me know how it goes. I will be waiting for your reply. Thank you. Posted 12/29/2012 Customer ok I cleaned the silver bar and that did not help. It is making a big click noise and acts like the ink cartridge bar is slamming and shaking the machine when I turn it off and on. I changed to new ink cartridges and nothing is helping. Posted 12/29/2012 Umair Mirza Dell Certified Tech Thank you for replying. Please follow the instructions by clicking HERE. Make sure you have performed all the steps carefully and check if it works. If it still doesn't work your printer might have to be sent to your nearest Service Center. Please let me know how it goes. Thank you. Posted 12/29/2012 Customer did you get my last comment Im still having problems I put new ink cartridges in to try and help but its still slaming back and forth hard and the error message 0502 is still on. Posted 12/29/2012 Umair Mirza Dell Certified Tech It appears that your encoder strip has misplaced and that's why you can hear the clicking sounds. You need to re-adjust it by following the steps given on the link that i have shared with you. Please try these steps and let me know how it goes. Thank you.
