database ‘D:\Temp\tempdb.edb’ failed with Jet error -1032. The error code –1032 points to JET_ERRFileAccessDenied, which tells us that I cannot access the file, as the file is locked or in use. This is the first time I noticed the issue at my end. When I investigated further I realized the issue -

I have mounted the database and ran the ESEUtil. The database needs to be offline to read the header information. So I dismounted the database and ran the ESEUtil worked like a charm – bingo!! Running Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010. - Dismounted mailbox database - Attempted ESEUtil command but got error "Operation terminated with error -1032, JET_errFileAccessDenied, Cannot access file, the file is locked or in use" I've rebooted the server, checked antivirus/backup systems to see if they may be locking the jet error 1032 file, re-mounted/dismounted database again, stopped every Exchange service except information store service; no change. I ran Process Explorer but was unable to find any process that have a lock on this file. Confirmed this with LockHunter program also. Verified my account has full control permissions on file. Any ideas? Jeff 0 Question by:garner-it Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 10 Best Solution byKorbus Can you run ESEutil on your copy? When I mount the database, Process Explorer shows a process handle on the file from the Exchange Information Store process. But when I dismount the database, that handle goes away yet ESEUtil still reports the file is locked or in use. access file, the file is locked or in use) after 10.79 seconds. The operation's I was attempting was an integrity check on a database (ESEUTIL /G database_filename.edb). When this failed with the error above. I verified that the database was dismounted and that my antivirus scanner was not locking the file. It took me a little bit of time but I soon released that the temp file for the database would be on my system volume which did not have the space required to run this operation. That said I ran the command again; this time specifying a location for the temp file. That command looks something like this: ESEUTIL /G database_filename.edb /TE:\Mailbox\Temp\thisismytempfile.edb Please note that there is no space used after the command switch /T For more info on the ESEUTIL: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/192185 By jermsmit|How-To, Software, Technical|0 Comments About the Author: jermsmit Related Posts Comments are closed.
