no matter what security settings and permissions you have changed, the net use command simply is not working. The reason for this issue is because in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, non-administrators cannot remap an LPT port to a network printer, when the LPT port is already assigned to the local parallel port. In other words, only a member of the Administrators group can use the net use system error 1202 has occurred the local device command tomap the LPT port for a local (hardware) parallel port to a network printer. According to Microsoft, this behaviour is desinged to help improve security. Solutions To solve the cannot net use lpt1 problem, there are several ways: Log on as an administrator Use the devcon disable *PNP0401 command to disable the LPT port mapping to the local parallel port when the computer starts. The devcon disable *PNP0401 command is for LPT1. To find the hardware ID for other LPT ports, use the devcon findall * command. The devcon command must run when the computer starts. For a computer in a domain, you can set up Group Policy to run devcon as a computer startup script. To set Group Policy, open the appropriate group policy, open Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Scripts (Startup/Shutdown) -> Startup, and then add the command. Alternatively, the command can be run individually at each workstation by adding a command to Startup folder for All Users or particular users. Devcon utility can be found here with its information. If your program can print to the LPT2 port or the LPT3 port, use the net use command to map the network printer to the LPT2 port or the LPT3 port. Most

Solved Error 1202 https://techjourney.net/unable-to-map-net-use-lpt1-in-windows-xp/ Occurs Only at Application Startup Posted on 2008-02-13 Windows Networking Windows Batch 1 Verified Solution 3 Comments 4,130 Views Last Modified: 2012-08-13 I am redirecting LPT1 to a USB printer and use the following command inserted into a batch file: net use LPT1 \\169.254.210.141\EpsonLQ /persistence:no Before I run my application program, I check that there https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23159427/Error-1202-Occurs-Only-at-Application-Startup.html are no other connections to LPT1 using the 'net use' command, else I would use the command 'net use LPT1 /delete'. The application then calls my batch file on start-up before returning with the Error Code 1202. After the application has started I can enter the command line and run the same batch file and it returns command completed successfully. Why does the command fail when the application calls the batch fille, but not when using the command line after the application has started? Does the printer share name remember another LPT port I had connected it with. If so is there a similar command to 'net use LPT /delete' for share names? Wednesday, September 30, 2009 5:31 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Do you have any physical LPT ports the Windows XP computer? If so, please disable them. That should resolve this issue. If it does not help, please let us know how does it work if you manually run the “net use” command to map LPT 2.Arthur Xie - MSFT Marked as answer by Mike Chern Tuesday, June 29, 2010 5:49 PM Friday, June 25, 2010 9:21 AM Reply | Quote Moderator 0 Sign in to vote In our case, there were actuallyenabled physical ports at LPT3 and LPT1, but not LPT2, so LPT2 worked and the other two did not. Anyway, if you are using AD on the network you should be able to put the users into the Print Operators group and get rid of the access denied if from that source (assuming no physical port conflict, of course).Mike Chern Marked as answer by Mike Chern Tuesday, August 16, 2011 7:02 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2011 7:01 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote This issue occurs if the printer driver that is stored in SBS2003 is not applied to the Windows 7 system. In this case the Windows 7 computers may not be allowed to access the printing port. I suggest that you install the printer driver that is compatible for Windows 7 on all Windows 7 clients, and then try the command. I just think that
