Insert Smart Card Error In Digital Signature
few users who are using InfoPath 2010 and when they open forms that have web services as data connections they receive a pop-up that says "insert smart card". I'm not sure what's causing this, or how to stop it. Users are not big fans of "Just hit cancel and the form will open normally..." Any help is appreciated!NLewis Tuesday, June 14, 2011 6:38 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 insert smart card pop up Sign in to vote We are experiencing the exact same problem on our end. We believe that it is due to a problem with the digital certificate used to sign the InfoPath Form. Since the Digital Certificate used to sign the form is generated locally from the user's own laptop workstation, the digital certificate is probably not trusted on any other workstation/machine other than the original developer's workstation. Therefore, if another user attempts to open the form, it does not recognize nor trust the digital certificate and therefore provides the error message. We are planning on purchasing a trusted Digital Certificate for Code Signing from a Trusted 3rd Party Certification Authority such as VeriSign, Thawte etc. and see if that resolves our issue. Based on this thread, it seems that another seems to have resolved their issue in a similar fashion:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/eu/officegeneral/thread/bf318cec-d7a9-47c2-bb56-bbc0edf4467b Edited by vs2015junkie Wednesday, June 15, 2011 2:03 PM Added solution link Proposed as answer by vs2015junkie Thursday, June 16, 2011 3:05 PM Marked as answer by Emir LiuMicrosoft contingent staff Tuesday, June 21, 2011 2:24 AM Wednesday, June 15, 2011 2:02 PM Reply | Quote Microsoft is conducting an online survey to understand your opinion of the Msdn Web site. I find this really annoying when someone tries to login through my InfoPath Library and every time they are prompted with a popup saying 'insert smart card popup'. The form is setup such that one is just supposed to login as an admin and be able to effect any changes within their access levels. What could be the problem and how can I fix it? Please, urgent. If you don't have a smart card then you need to stop the smartcard service or disable smart card in control panel. To do this you go to control panel by clicking [start->control panel->administrative tools->services] then stop the smart card service by setting the startup to manual or disable. Login or Signup Now

It wasn't the usual prompt for a password/user name OR a smart card, it simply said insert a smart card. The client next to her had the same prompty (oddly sized) except it just said "connecting to...." Apparently this was caused by a recent update from Microsoft for Outlook 2010 - kb2553248. There is currently no workaround except to uninstall the update. That resolves the prompts and you can go about your business. Credit answers.microsoft.com.
