Yes to I O error version 10.8 I believe Expert: Ashik replied4 years ago. Ok..This is something you probably don't want to hear. The I/O error is the Input/Output error which indicates that your Mac can't read or writes file from/to your hard disk. This usually happens if your hard drive is failing. Now, you can try to reinstall your Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Reinstalling OS X won't delete any of your files. It will just replace the system files with new one. Restart your Mac and immediately hold down Command + R keys and this will boot your Mac to the Mountain Lion Utilties window. From there, Reinstall your OS X Mountain Lion.If that didn't work, then its a hardware problem and you have to take it to the Apple Store to replace the hard drive. It failed to boot the OS (Lion) after working perfectly for 6 years. It had been working fine with Lion for a while. One day, I noticed the laptop slowing down and freezing. After it froze I force shut down the laptop and on turning back on it didn't boot up. I wiped the HDD and did a fresh install. This worked fine for a few days, and the same freezing/crashing/ eternal spinning cog occured. I took the laptop in to an apple reseller, and a guy ran some diagnostics on it. He said the HDD looked knackered. Sweet, so I paid for a new HDD to be fitted, and my macbook was back up and running for a few days, and quelle surprise it had the same inability to boot. I then took it into an official apple store. Although I had explained the problem, the guy there insisted it just needed Lion reinstalled as he couldn't see any other problems. 1 hour later, I had a fresh copy of Lion and my macbook back up and running. 1 week later the pesky freeze/crash/death spiral ensued. I am thinking this is more serious than I initially thought, perhaps my logic board is knackered? I have attempted disk repair/ repair disk permissions, and I have encountered 'the system bootstrapper has crashed: Bus error: 10' Any help would be hugely appreciated, Thanks!
