Hi All, I am running Vista 32bit on a Gateway PC. I have not had too many problems with it until recently. I had a virus on my computer and I used Malwarebytes to remove it(It was the My Security Shield virus).I re-ran Malwarebytes after removal and it came back clean I have Windows Security Essentials as well. I ran a scan with that and it came back windows firewall clean. I also removed the free McAfee that Comcast offered, since I downloaded Windows Security Essentials awhile ago. However, when I restarted my PC, I received a Windows Security Alert in the bottom right hand corner of my screen (Red Shield, big white X in the middle). When I click into it it says that My Windows firewall is off, when I try to turn it on it says, the windows firewall cannot be started. In addtion, it says that my Security Center turn on windows is turned off. When I try to turn it on I get the same error message. On top of that my Windows Security Essentials will not allow me to turn on the real time scanning. I have downloaded and ran Super Anti Spyware, and it found 91 cookies, but no viruses. I have tried to start the both the Firewall and Security Center by going through the Control Panel to Services, but that has worked to no avail. I get an error message on that as well. Although both are set to Automatic in Services. The only changes that I have made recently to my PC other than deleting McAfee, was upgrading my Itunes to 10. Please help. I want to make sure that my system is clean, and restore my Windows Firewall and Security Center back to normal. Being that the system is acting really wonky, I am sure there must be a virus still hidden in my files somewhere. Or some registries have been changed. I am seriously at my wits end on this. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nichole Reports: · Posted 5 years ago Top rdunseith Posts: 305 This post has been reported. "Can you go into your Control Panel then Security Centre & see what your firewall is displaying. If you select Firewall there will be a tab saying view installed firewall programs or something of that nature. This will enable us to determine that there is no t
