Unable to create logfile system tables Error Message When using the Select By Location, Select by Attribute or Select tool for more than 100 features, the following error message is displayed: "An unexpected error occurred in the Select By Location command. Unable to create logfile system tables. User perhaps lacks permissions or resources to create tables [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server: The specified schema name "SDEREADER" either does not exist or you do not have permission to use it.]" Cause The schema set in the database is not the same as the username.ArcSDE is hard-coded to look for a schema that matches the user name within the database specified. This problem only occurs with ArcSDE 9.1 Service Pack 1 and SQL server 2005, and is a result of the new concept of user schemas with SQL server 2005.If users are going to be owning/creating data or making large selection sets that require user logfiles to be created, ensure that the user and schema name match exactly.See the link in the Related Information Section below for a white paper with more information. Solution or Workaround Ensure that all new users have the same default schema name as their username within each database.See following example of the Login properties under the User mapping page in SQL Server Management Studio. This illustrates how the default schema name is set when adding a login as a user within a particular database. Default schemas need to be set for all users within each database. I created a join between a layer (WellsLocation) and a other table (WellsSelect) in my geodatabase. I made a basic Definition Query in the layer WellsLocation properties. This query keep only record has value "1" in a field of WellsSelect table. So, http://support.esri.com/technical-article/000008795 when I want to select record in WellsLocation who are interserct a city (cityPolygon) with Select by location I get this error "An unexpected error occured in the Select by location command. General function failure (WellsLocation) Trop peu de parmètres. 1 attendu". My windows is in french that probably why the second part is in french. But, when I removed de SQL statement in Definition Query the selecton by location works well. Anyone knows https://community-qa.esri.com/thread/7814 why I can't use Select by location tool on un layer with a Definition Query ???OutcomesVisibility: Managing Data13 ViewsLast modified on Jun 20, 2014 3:43 PMTags:managing_dataContent tagged with managing_datageodatabase_&_arcsdeContent tagged with geodatabase_&_arcsdegdbContent tagged with gdbThis content has been marked as final. Did you ever manage to solve this issue?Best regardsLike • Show 0 Likes0 Actions jbcbirder Jun 21, 2014 12:43 PMOriginal Post Date: Aug 29, 2011 10:18 AM PDTI have this problem but I have no definition query, I am not in an edit session. I have a line layer in a GDB that has 100 out of 17449 records selected. I am attempting to use the selected records from that line layer to select features in a polygon layer that are within a distance of 3000 m from the selected features in the line layer (polygon layer has 1549 records/features). I tried running repair geometry and check geometry (no problems identified). I still get the error message "An unexpected error occurred in the Select By Location command". Very frustrating.BTW the selection works if I export both layers out of my GDB to shapefiles !!!Like • Show 0 Likes0 Actions jbcbirder Jun
