We're often experiencing failed backups, they fail with an error "V-79-57344-34108 - An unexpected error occurred when cleaning up snapshot volumes. Confirm that all snapped volumes are correctly resynchronized with the original volumes". These failures don't have any particular pattern, one can fail, the next it's backed up or two can fail and then the job is successful. One thing for sure: after server restart the next backup always succeeds, but restarting the server is not an option. vssadmin list writers output says the writers state is stable with no errors. Can someone advise on this? Thanks in advance! The schedualed backup of the server usually fails with the response code:V-79-57344-34108,An unexpected error occurred when cleaning up snapshot volumes. Confirm that all snapped volumes are correctly resynchronized with the original volumes. But,whenever I choose to manually backup it, by clicking on 'Run next backup now', the job is always succesful. The

Windows Server > Windows Server 2012 General Question 0 Sign in to vote https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/269225-technical-questions-about-backup-exec-ask-me Hi all, at a customer’s site I’ve a problem with a fresh installation of Backup Exec 2014. Every backup (full or incremental) always reports the following error: “An unexpected an unexpected error occurred when cleaning up snapshot volumes. Confirm that all snapped volumes are correctly re-synchronized with the original volumes.”. It’s not a Backup Exec problem itself, also backups using “Windows Server Backup” failing with the same error. On this site I have three servers; the error is only generated for one of them. Here’s a short overview: an unexpected error Server1: Windows Server 2012 R2, latest patchlevel, physical machine, Domain Controller and Fileserver. Backup Exec is installed on this machine, backup is written directly to SAS tape loader. There error is generated on this server. Server2: Windows Server 2008 R2, latest patchlevel, virtual machine, running on Citrix Xen Server 6.2. Used for remote desktop services, no errors on this server. Server3: Windows Server 2012 R2, latest patchlevel, virtual machine, database server with some SQL Instances, no errors on this server. As I said, error is reported only on server1, no matter if it is a full or an incremental backup. During the backup I found the following errors is the event log (translated from a german system): Event ID: 12293 Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error calling a routine on a Shadow Copy Provider. Join Now Hey Spiceheads, Taking on from Matt’s last post "Who can I talk to with technical questions about Backup Exec?" I am Jaydeep Sathe from the Symantec Backup Exec Support team and would like to introduce myself to this community. Do you Still remember, one of the most stable BE out there, 'BE 9.1 for Netware'. That is what I supported, when I started working here at Symantec. I am working with Symantec for about 5 years now and am a member of the Advanced support team. I work with almost all Agent and options that Backup Exec has to offer and would be here to assist you troubleshooting Backup Exec issues. While spending my time here on Spiceworks, I would be writing a few How-tos and Blogs (discussion). Doing this my primary focus to highlight unexplored areas of troubleshooting and BE functionality; i.e the stuff that does not currently have How-tos and methods that are not used by many. I have experienced that this might be really helpful when it comes to the real thing - 'Restore'. Though, I have lined up a few topics of my own, I would request all of you to suggest topics related to any Backup Exec Option that you would like to see here and I will try my best to get these incorporated. Besides work (Symantec and Backup Exec), I am a married and so if time permits ;-) an avid gamer. Oh yes, I love to PVP on various game arenas and sometimes slay all those monster the MMORPGs have to offer. I am also an active contributor on various MMORPG forums. I love photography (Astro and Wild Life) and to go on long drives whenever I feel low. Hoping to assist with any Backup Exec issues that you might face with Backup Exec for a very looong time.
