Being that those files will remain http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?t=1187231 on that location our infrastructure unfortunately won’t be upgraded to SMB 3. Is there a way to still install those applications on a Windows 8 machine since Windows 8 is only supporting SMB 3? Currently when we try to install an application on Windows 8 from a network location we seem to be getting the same error message:An unexpected network error occurred. When we copy an application off the network share to the local machine it installs fine so it does appear to be an issue with it being on a network location. Is there a way to downgrade SMB 3 to SMB 2 on Windows 8? Some compatibility checkbox? I tried clicking on properties on an installer file and select the Compatibility tab and specifying the OS I want to install on but that didn’t work either. I looked in gpedit.msc but didn’t see any option there. ni1 Ars Centurion Registered: Jul 9, 2011Posts: 236 Posted: Tue Nov 20, 2012 2:04 pm Windows 8 supports all versions of SMB, not just SMB 3. 09 Mar 2013 #1 guapo View Profile View Forum Posts Junior Member Posts : 6 windows 8 Unable to access properties of my network connection. This is a fairly new install of Windows 8 pro (within the last month), and while trying to set up a static ip up today I found that I was unable to access the network properties or disable the connection in the Network Connections. I am pretty stumped as I am the only user of this computer and from what I can tell have the correct permissions to do so. When trying to check the properties it tells me "an unexpected error has occurred" with no further information. Has anyone had this problem and found a fix?
