You can resolve this error by creating a new list. Don't try to select the DL automatically, because it will just pick up the old one. Go to your contacts list and and select the new distribution list from there. Good Luck.

Every Time when I am sendling to one the list an error message "An unexpected error occurred" pops and the email will not go through. I'd appreciate any comment that could be helped to http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/outlook-2007-distribution-list-problemsssss/ solve this matter. Thanks Share Flag This conversation is currently closed to new comments. 11 total posts (Page 1 of 2) 01 | 02 Next + Follow this Discussion · | Thread display: Collapse - | Expand + All Answers Collapse - re: Outlook 2007 Distribution List problems by ThumbsUp2 · 9 years ago In reply to OUTLOOK 2007 DISTRIBUTION ... Create a new email and add just one of the distribution lists in the TO field. Click the plus sign next to it and expand all of the names on the list. Look for one or more names that do not underline themselves. That one will be the culprit in the distribution list. Close that email window, open the distribution list and remove the culprit. Save the list. Now, try a new email with that list and see if it goes through. Repeat the process until you've got them all working. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - Outlook 2007 distribution list issue by noels0ma13 · 8 years ago In reply to re: Outlook 2007 Distribu ... Receive message "an unexpected error has occurred". https://forums.slipstick.com/threads/7354-distribution-list-failure-an-unexpected-error-has-occurred/ All single contacts in address book continue to work with no problem. Few people rely upon them. State the changes you made before the DL "suddenly stopped working." Consider using a reliable way to group Contacts. May 8, 2009 Flag Post #2 Share Phil Connolly Guest eh? Your response lacks both a solution and a path to a solution. It is helpful in an unexpected that it acknowledges the weakness of DL's (distribution lists) but the anemic "Consider using a reliable way to group Contacts." supplies nothing but frustration. Sep 1, 2009 Flag Post #3 Share Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] Guest Those alternatives have been posted here countless times and include custom views of Contacts Folders, Categories, and separate Contact subfolders. There are lots of discussions on the pros and cons of each method, such as this one: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/contacts/categories-vs-multiple-contacts-folders/ Sep 1, 2009 Flag Post #4 an unexpected error Share DavidG Member Here is the most likely solution to this issue: FIX: 1. Create a New Message 2. In the To:, CC:, and BCC:, fields, type the name of the offending distribution list, the one you are using when you get the error. 3. Once the list of DLs is displayed, delete the one that gives you the problem. You are not actually deleting the list, just the shortcut link to it. 4. Click on the TO, CC or BCC link to bring up the Select Names dialogue. 5. Select the offending DL for the To CC or BCC field and click OK. 6. Send your email 7. next time yo usend email you can type the DL right in on the New Message page and it will now be linked to the correct DL in the address book. I certainly agree with the view expressed about the MVP - what a hopeless case...... 6, 2007. Guest Guest This error keeps occurring. I have deleted the distribution list and re-created it but to no avail. Any suggestions??? I believe all the email addresses in the list to be valid and did re-create the list with the same name. I haven't tried recreating under a different name. I need a suggestion asap. Thanks. -- Cindy Guest, Jan 6, 2007 #1 Advertisements Guest Re: 'An unexpected error has occurred' using a distribution list I had the same problem and just now figured it out. My new distribution list did not exist. THAT is when I put the list name in the to field, the OLD list name was coming up (which was very similar to the new list name). once I limited it to the new list name, all was fine.
