I can run a Create Table Query several times(replacing the previous table of the same name) without issue then all of the sudden i get the message. and the only way i can get around it is to copy everything into a new database and start over. What version of Access? 2. Is the DB an MDB or an ACCDB? 3. Is the DB local to you or is it sitting on a server? 4. Do you get any error messages during the operation? 5. Is the app complied? 6. Is this something new or something that started only recently? 7. Do you have error trapping in-place when running the query? It combines graphical-user-interface (GUI) https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28500179/Cannot-open-database-It-may-not-be-a-database-that-your-application-recognizes-or-the-file-may-be-corrupt.html and few other software development programs. It is used in as a Database Management System by most of the MNC’s and big organizations. But it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t throw error message. “Cannot open database” It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. This is the most common error that is found by the Access users. Take practical example: I am not doing anything out of the standard of http://msaccess.filerepairtool.net/blog/fix-access-open-database-error importing data, and running a few queries. It works find for a little while, but then it decides to give this message. (Cannot open database ". It may not be a database your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.) I am not doing anything but importing a text file, trying to export a text file from a query or table, trying to append data from one table to another etc. Once this error happens the database being use becomes useless and no amount of compacting and repair seems to help. I have worked with this application for 10 years and never seen this happen. I tried a re-install and still no luck. Any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. ----- RobP76 asked on Microsoft Problem Running the MS Access macro / query or adding any data to current Access database or to the external access database and the above given error message appears. This week I was asked to give access cannot open to the application to some additional users, but whenever they launch the application they are getting the error message: Cannot open database ''. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. I have gone through 5 pages of Google search results trying to find a solution and come up with nothing. Every answer I can find to this problem is either the 2GB limit (which my db is nowhere near) or corruption cannot open database (which is not the case because only two new users are receiving this error and everyone else is fine). This is my connection string: "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=[Path];Jet OLEDB:Database Password=[Password];" I'm pretty sure this is due to the users' machines missing something, but I cannot figure out what or where they can get it from. Please advise. c# ms-access jet share|improve this question edited Dec 23 '13 at 22:30 paqogomez 11.4k42444 asked Dec 23 '13 at 22:22 Jdinklage Morgoone 306315 Where is your connection string stored? In a config file? If in a file, are you sure they have access to it? –Brian Dec 23 '13 at 22:24 @Brian It's not stored in a config file. Having access to the connection string is not an issue. –Jdinklage Morgoone Dec 23 '13 at 22:27 1 You have a database password, which means it is encrypted. If that was done in Access 2010 or later without "legacy encryption", and the problem users all have Access 2007, that would account for the error. –HansUp Dec 23 '13 at 22:30 1 Access drivers will be needed. –paqogomez Dec 23 '13 at 22:33 1 @HansUp Thanks for the help –paqogomez Dec 23 '13 at 22:59 | show 9 more comments 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted Your connection string indicates that you are using the Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 driver. Feb 24, 2011 08:46 PM|decker dong - msft|LINK According to your description,as far as I know, there are two ways you can consider: 1) Please check whether your db's isn't destoried by something like virus or something exceptions. 2) And sometimes I think if you put your db into a compressed disc or a folder, you cannot attach it to the SQL or sometimes you cannot open them. So please make sure that your db is in a normal disc or a folder, if not, please uncompress them first and call Open or attach or do something else :) PS:Please write down your type of your db (like SQL,ACCESS……) And the problem happends to which statement (by debugging) and your error information THX again! :) Reply KumarHarsh Star 9276 Points 3926 Posts Re: Cannot open database ''.
