For the last three days I have been able to send mail but not receive (I use Mail 1.3). If I sent a test message to myself it goes and be seen if I access mail via a web browser, but when my Mail application attempts to retreive it, it is unable to find anything. I am not aware that I have changed any settings, but have in attempt to fix the problem re-entered the incoming and outgoing settings to no avail. My ISP and Apple tell http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=476043 me the problem lies with me. Any solutions? Missed this:I have a broad band connection via an external modem. Is your Mac directly connected to the (DSL?) modem? Or is there also a router in-between? If the latter, try bypassing the router and connecting the Mac directly to the modem. If that's already what you're doing, then it looks like the problem is at the server. Surprise, surprise, they now say it is not. If anyone is still following this thread, I have now noticed something else that may be of use. When I first open mail each day the In box is greyed out - ie it does not automatically search for mail. Once I press get mail it becomes black and stays black. I believe that prior to this problem started the in box would automatically
error - can't receive mailHome» General Outlook opportunities» Outlook disk error - can't receive mail [message #41399] Fri, 13 October 2006 02:54 AnitaMessages: 16Registered: October 2006 Junior Member For the past week I've not been able to receive email http://office-outlook.com/outlook-forum/index.php/m/74733/ in outlook 2003. My ISP is tiscali. I get the following msg ... Task 'pop.tiscali.co.uk - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90) : 'Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms681382(v=vs.85).aspx this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: -ERR cannot open disk file error 2' I've done what they said (reset tcpip and reset my password) but that didn't work. cannot open I don't know what to do - Help ! I can still send outgoing msgs. Thanks Anita Report message to a moderator Re: disk error - can't receive mail [message #74733] Fri, 13 October 2006 06:32 neoMessages: 888Registered: July 2006 Senior Member Hi Anita, First you will want to ensure that you apply service pack 2 to Office/Outlook 2003. Once that is done, you will need to turn on diagnostic cannot open disk logging, perform a mail collection in order to generate the error, turn off logging, and then send said log file to your ISP. The reason why is that there will be a corrupt item on the server. Your ISP can take of this for you. To turn on logging see: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300479&sd=RMVP /neo PS - The reason I suggested that you get service pack 2 applied is that there was a software bug in the logging routine where your userid/password could be noted into the OPMLOG.LOG file. This doesn't happen under service pack 2 for Office/Outlook 2003. "Anita"
