a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. Have spent hours repairing dbs, trying various options, reducing column datatype sizes, reimporting, and many other activites to know that the dbs appear sound and simply design. however, can't seem to work around this error message. this happens on multiple PCs using Access 2007 and 2010, and Windows 2007, Windows 7 (64-bit), and when also using linked MS Access dbs. Nothing seems to work, and the only approach is to compact/repair the database, and try again, which eventually fails within a 5 to 10 minutes. can't find anything online. have all ms office patches/updates applied. we have not found any boogered up data or rows. removing indexes doesn't seem to help either. any ideas? this has become a show stopper and our biz users are not happy. Posted on 2009-08-11 cannot open MS Access 2 Verified Solutions 7 Comments 2,169 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-07 Sure this is a very common problem people have. I'm using Access 2003 with front-end forms, 5 people log into the database most of the time and access the same table from the front-end forms. Now and again a record becomes corrupt and just shows "#error" or "#Delete" in all the fields and it can't be deleted. I first thought this cannot open database could of been just a network error but it's happening to often. I then changed the layout of the table as it had a "memo" field which I have now taken out and put in it's own table and this table now doesnt' corrupt. So I can only think it's down to the multi-users hammering the same table at the same time. Is there anything I can do to stop this, if it's to change the design of how everything works or anything else I can do to the database. Thanks Ian 0 Question by:ShockUK Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 77 Best Solution bypeter57r Yes you should split, and you should give each user their own front-end file. It is impossible to be sure that this will resolve the problems you are describing but it is essential to get this done first Go to Solution 7 Comments LVL 77 Overall: Level 77 MS Access 67 Message Expert Comment by:peter57r2009-08-11 Are you running a split database with each user having their own frontend file? It sounds like you might be, but I just wanted to confirm that. 0 Message Author Comment by:ShockUK2009-08-11 Everyone logs into the same database in the same location, just a single file. Then loads the same form. 0

Error message running query : Can not open database P: 21 sarah2855 Hello everyone, I'm running a Make-Table Query in Access. They was working fine up intill an hour ago and suddenly now that I'm running the query , I keep getting this error message: Can not open Database 'Query 1'. This may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file maybe corrupted. And if I close access and reopen it , sometimes it works fine then but sometime it gives error again. Please advise Jun 15 '10 #1 Post Reply Share this Question 6 Replies Expert 100+ P: 931 patjones I would take a cue from the error message and first consider corruption as a possibility. A simple remedy for this is to open a new (blank) Access database, import all of your objects (forms, reports, queries, etc.) into this new database, and see if the problem still persists. If it does, then at least you can eliminate corruption as a possibility. Pat Jun 15 '10 #2 reply P: 21 sarah2855 How can I export all the forms, tables, queries and reports all together? Jun 15 '10 #3 reply P: 21 sarah2855 I exported that problematic query to blank database as you said, and it worked perfectly fine. Thanks But I still don't know how to export ALL of my objects in one shot. Please advise, Jun 15 '10 #4 reply Expert 100+ P: 931 patjones In the new file, you'll do External Data > Import... if you are using Access 2007. Earlier versions of Access have a menu option somewhere for bringing external data or objects into the current file. Anyway, a dialog will come up allowing you to navigate to the old file and select it. When you do, you'll just select everything in the list that comes up and import it all. If it is a corruption issue, which does happen from time to time with Access, this should fix it. Pat Jun 15 '10 #5 reply P: 21 sarah2855 You're awesome, I did imported all the objects, and it's working perfectly fine now. Thanks a lot for you fast help. Jun 15 '10 #6 reply Expert Mod 15k+ P: 29,922 NeoPa Just as a caveat, although most of a database is held within its importable objects, there are values (of greater or lesser importance depending on your views) which are not associated with these items which will not be replicated with this procedure. It is often not very important in my experience, but can be sometimes. As another alternative (generally worth trying first and only proceeding on to the multi-object import if you don't find that it solves your problems), you can choose
