The first time I try to connect to my mysql workbench connection error 10061 database server is successful, but after closing my application and starting it again I get: Can't connect to MySQL server(10060)" After some time (approximately 30 minutes), I can successfully connect to the database again. I have given maximum values to all of MySQL system and global variables like connection_timeout, wait_timeout etc. I have granted all permissions to my MySQL user. The firewall on my computer is turned off. All connections are properly closed when the application closes. I have asked the technical people who provide the Online MySQL Database service and they gave me these three reasons: The local machine from where you are trying to connect is not whitelisted on the server. The maximum number of connections for the user has been exceeded. The MySQL server was down at the time (though they said that their server was not down). How can I solve the first two reasons, or determine that they are the cause of the problem? Or could there be another problem not listed there? mysql connectivity share|improve this question edited Mar 2 at 10:11 Paul White♦ 29.7k11167267 asked Mar 1 '15 at 11:24 Ashok Gujjar 28114 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up v

I doubt it is however. Very likely to be a NAT problem. –jweyrich Apr 30 '10 at 12:51 @jweyrich: You were very right, the ISP have blocked all ports but 21, 80 and 3389. –Anonymous May 1 '10 at 9:12 add a comment| 7 Answers 7 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote I suppose your mysql server is running o

I followed all instructions and tutorials about how to reach MySQL server remotely. Everything was fine till i get an error that says: [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver] Can't connect to MySQL server on 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (10060) I searched connect to mysql for a solution over the net for hours but still there is nothing makes sense about it.. I double checked my connections.. I can ping to my static ip, but cant reach the MySQL server in it. From CPanel i can reach my db with phpMyAdmin. I tested my db and there was nothing wrong with it. Everything seems right. Except i still get the error message with VB6 My connection string: Dim conn As ADODB.Connection Dim constr As String Private Sub OpenServer() Set conn = New ADODB.Connection constr = "Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};" & _ "PORT=" & db_port & ";" & _ "SERVER=" & db_server & ";" & _ "DATABASE=" & db_name & ";" & _ "UID=" & db_user & ";" & _ "PWD=" & db_pass & ";" & _ "OPTION=3;" & _ "STMT=;" conn.Open constr End Sub So how can i resolve this damned connection issue? and What are the odds that causes this? mysql vb6 remote-access share|improve this question asked Sep 10 '12 at 10:37 Berker Yüceer 2,084123978 It quite clearly says that it can't connect. Either the details are wrong or the server is not accessible from the internet. There
