I have been logging on as an administrator but get dcom error 10016 the message:- The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {A4199E55-EBB9-49E5-AF1A-7A5408B2E206} to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. I have googled this and the usual reply says go into Control Panel - Component Services - Computers - My Computer - DCOM Config 'Then in the right pane, locate the program by using its friendly name. Right-click the program name, and then select Properties. On the Security tab, in the Launch and Activation Permissions group box, select Customize, and then click Edit. Add the user to the permissions list, and give the user the appropriate permissions.' BUT The CLSID listed isn't in the right pane! Using Regedit the CLSID occurs several times and refers to RegSrvc. Right clicking Properties gives Application Type: Local Service, Authentication Level: 'Default' Application Type: {6EF8E539-12E9-4595-A7C6-3DDA8A4069B2} In RegSrvc.Registry/CLSID right clicking permissions gives Permissions for Administrators greyed ticks in both Full and Read. Looks like the TrustedInstaller from a previous application and the RunTime Broker did not give System and Local Administrators permission during a Windows 10 upgrade. It just an annoying thing but also slows down a windows 10 Login. The Error The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160} and APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276} to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. Background It would appear that an Apple application was installed on these machines at some point and that it did not do a proper install. The W10 upgrade exacerbated the issue due to missing security accounts after a W10 upgrade. The fix is to give local administrators and System rights to the DCOM. To do this you have to modify premissions on two registry keys and then change the DCOM premissions. Pretty easy to do. FIX Regedit Take Ownership You will need to take ownership then set rights against two different keys. The keys are: HKEY_CLASSES_RO
