At first, my CPU would be at 100% and my entire laptop would be incredibly slow and along with that I keep getting a error saying DCOM has encountered an issue (or something like that) and windows must restart. I also have dcom error windows been having a plug and play error that says the exact same thing. It tends to happen at random. I've ran malwarebytes and my virus scanner which is Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes picked up 29 viruses which I cleaned and got rid of. then MSE, encountered a severe virus. I removed it then restarted my laptop and that fixed the cpu problem, but since then I've gotten the DCOM error once. I've tried running rootkit killer and it didnt detect anything. Also I tried system restore and it says I don't have any restore points. So now my question is, what do I do now? I know how to stop the restarting but it's still an annoying issue. I'm not sure if this is a virus or not but I figured I'd post here instead of the other forums. Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Intel Celeron GPU (yea I know, its not a high perfomance laptop but it works for me) 2.00 GB Ram (1.87 Usable) If you need any more information let me know please. I already posted this in another section of the forum but some

Computer Restarts - DCOM Server Process Launcher Service Terminated Discussion in 'Virus & Other Malware Removal' started by BrucePhillips, Jan 23, 2010. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement BrucePhillips Thread Starter Joined: Jan 22, 2010 Messages: 10 I am trying to help my neighbor with his computer. Every time he uses his machine, he receives one of several error messages, including "DCOM Server Process Launcher Service Terminated" or "System Will Restart In 1 Minute" for an unidentified reason. I have helped him stop the restart using the "Shutdown -a" command, allowing Windows to fully run an AVG scan and a Spy Sweeper scan. Both reported the system as clean. I've searched the web, but have not yet found a working solution that I have been able to duplicate to stop this from happening. For some reason, even though he is the sole profile and is listed as the administrator, he doesn't seem to have the ability to change certain settings. These attempts are described here: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/896637-cannot-change-user-permissions.html I don't know how to fix his problem. I don't even know where to start right now. Listed below is his HijackThis log. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide.
