some research and came across various posts which direct to the following URL for solution http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc774368(WS.10).aspx 1. Now when I open up component services and go to default protocols tab, the only protocol listed there is "Connection-oriented TCP/IP". The article in the URL talks about "appropriate communications protocols", it doesnt gives details on what are those appropriate protocols. I dont know what other protocols am I missing there. 2. it also talks about going to properties of each protocol and verify the settings there are correct. when I go to properties of"Connection-oriented TCP/IP", its just empty there in port ranges field. Do I need to add some port there? 135? Please suggest. many thanks Thursday, July 14, 2011 12:00 PM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote Hi, 1. an hour or so in the event log. There is no other events logged from DCOM with the dcom 10009 dcom was unable to communicate with the computer 10009, and the 10009 errors come in pairs, one for each Forwarder I have setup in DNS. An example of the error is listed below (4.2.2.1 and 8.8.8.8). dcom error 10009 server 2008 r2 I have done some research on this, and what I have found talks about setting ports and firewall rules to allow RPC so the DCOM request is successful. I don't think that is my answer here given that these are public DNS servers. I am https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/6b3a1b12-6582-49a9-86d4-cbe062c1ff43/event-10009-dcom-was-unable-to-communicate-with-the-computer?forum=smallbusinessserver wondering if it has to do with my internal domain name. Instead of %client%.local, they used %client%.com. I'm pretty sure that these errors arent anything to worry about, but they are mucking up my logs and I want them gone. Any suggestions? *Note that the server in question is the DNS server, as it is the only Domain Controller on the network. (I wish they had a backup DC.). That is why the server has itself listed in its DNS config. The cause was the server running Spiceworks Network Monitor and one of the servers in the lest to be monitored had been decommissioned. The solution is to go into the ADSIEdit and delete the old CA server from the various Public Key Services. x 2 Anonymous We tracked this error back to a pair of scheduled discovery tasks for N-Able (a remote management and monitoring software). The jobs ran at 10 am and 4 pm and would fill the system log for about twenty minutes. We removed the discovery jobs and the problem and error messages have gone. x 5 Patrick I integrated a NAS (Synology DS1513+) into our domain on SBS 2011. The message started appearing right after that every 30 minutes, 6 times in a row each. The domain server tried to apply group policies to the NAS (which it could not handle, since it's OS - SAMBA - seems to not support it). Moving the "Computer" (the NAS entry) from the MyBusniess Computers list in the AD to the Computers list right "under" the domain fixed the issue. x 638 Anonymous This error appear if installed ESET Remote Administrator Server. Posted on 2013-09-21 SBS Hardware Firewalls Windows Networking Networking Windows Server 2008 1 Verified Solution 15 Comments 5,214 Views Last Modified: 2013-10-21 I'm getting repeated DCOM errors on my SBS 2011 server for one client. It's the one everyone sees I'm sure: "DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer using any of the configured protocols." The thing that boggles me, is that is the sonicwall TZ-210 firewall, so why is DCOM even trying to talk to it? More importantly how do I make it stop? I get the same error only pointing at the LINUX based Asterisk phone server on a different VLAN. 0 Question by:DigiSec Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 24 Active 2 days ago Best Solution bydiverseit Hi DigiSec, The thing that boggles me, is that is the sonicwall TZ-210 firewall, so why is DCOM even trying to talk to it?Are you saying that in the SBS logs you are seeing the IP address in the the Go to Solution 14 Comments LVL 20 Overall: Level 20 Windows Server 2008 14 SBS 6 Windows Networking 3 Message Active 2 days ago Expert Comment by:Radhakrishnan Rajayyan2013-09-22 Hi, Are you getting the CLSID? if so, find out the component from registry. Start>>run>>regedit>>Expand HKEY_ROOT_CLASES>>Click on CLSID>>Find for the specific CLSID. you will get the component name. Once you noticed the compoenent name, go to start>>run>>dcomcnfg>>expand computers>>DCOM Configurations>>Right click on the component and properties>>Make sure that "Everyone" or "All computers" (specific computer) full control is applied. If the component is no longer required, delete the registry key, so that the DCOM error no longer appears. 0 LVL 24 Overall: Level 24 Hardware Firewalls 19 Networking 17 Windows Networking 6 Message Active 2 days ago Accepted Solution by:diverseit2013-09-22 Hi DigiSec, The thing that boggles me, is that is the sonicwall TZ-210 firewall, so why is DCOM even trying to talk to it?
