Event Log Dcom Error 10005
201021 0 0 0 Symptom: Sometimes, we may see below event log dcom error 10016 DCOM 10009 errors in our system event, or we may receive the exception code 0x800706ba in event log dcom error xp our DCOM client application: Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: DCOM|Event Category: NoneEvent ID: 10009Date: 2010-2-22Time: 10:02:07User: N/AComputer: Computer Name> using any of the configured protocols. Simply speaking, DCOM 10009 indicates that the DCOM client located on this COM runtime contacts its local SCM COM activator (RPCSS service) in order to launch the corresponding COM server that will host the desired component. If the component is remote, the local RPCSS service will forward the request to the RPCSS service of the remote machine. However, if the RPCSS service of remote target server is not available, DCOM 10009 will be logged locally to notify administrator. The typical call stack is as follows:ChildEBP RetAddr 006df364 757f8b72 ADVAPI32!ReportEventW-> then DCOM 10009 is logged. 006df3a0 757f6542 rpcss!LogRemoteSideUnavailable+0x63 ->here we don’t found the server. 006df40c 757f6781 rpcss!CRemoteMachine::Activate+0x294 006df648 757f6861 rpcss!RemoteActivationCall+0xf2 006df664 757edb5c rpcss!ActivateRemote+0x8e 006df6c0 757d629c rpcss!Activation+0x343 006df718 757d7680 rpcss!ActivateFromProperties+0x1c2 006df724 757d76c0 rpcss!CScmActivator::CreateInstance+0xd…… Why this happens: Totally speaking, the reason why DCOM 10009 is logged is that: local RPCSS service can’t reach the remote RPCSS service of remote target server. There are many possibilities which can cause this issue. Scenario 1:The remote target server happens to be offline for a short ti additional information might be available elsewhere. Solved: Solved: Continuous DCOM Error in Event Viewer Discussion https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-solved-continuous-dcom-error-in-event-viewer.669657/ in 'Windows XP' started by Nightmare, Jan 8, 2008. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement Nightmare Thread Starter Joined: Sep 23, 2004 Messages: 119 I am getting continuous DCOM Errors in the Event Viewer. So I follow the directions listed here: I search the registry, find the key, double click the default and get this: I continue to follow the directions dcom error and go the the DCOM Configuration to find the program: The program DOES NOT exist in the DCOM Window. So I am stuck at step 6 on the help window. The culprit is located here in my program folder: C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NetworkAccessManager\bin The program name is: nSvcAppFlt Application 168KB Can you plese help me resolve/correct this? Thank you. Nightmare, Jan 8, 2008 event log dcom #1 TheOutcaste Joined: Aug 7, 2007 Messages: 9,028 It's part of the NVIDA Firewall on ASUS MB. Be nice if it was named NVIDIA Network Access Manager or NVIDIA Firewall. I don't have an ASUS, or that CLSID on my system, but did some googling and I found this http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=23134 that says the Name is app_filter that you need to edit. It says the CLSID won't match the AppID, but I'd check and see if it's listed: In the component services window, widen it out, then click on View and choose Detail. This should list the Application ID column. Search for {BC866CF2-5486-41F7-B46B-9AA49CF3EBB1} (double check that, I typed it by hand). In the Registry Editor, check the {BC866CF2-5486-41F7-B46B-9AA49CF3EBB1} key for an AppID value and look for that in component services. Also you could check the ProgID key (and the others as well) to see if you can spot the name there.
