Usually, the event ID is 10000 or 10005 and the error message reads something like: The server didn’t register with DCOM within the required timeout. As a result, you http://windowsitpro.com/systems-management/use-dcomcnfgexe-stop-dcom-10000-and-10005-errors might experience problems starting or using an application or service on that computer. Usually, the problem is created by a corruption in DCOM’s class database. A tool that might solve the problem is dcomcnfg.exe, a built-in Windows utility that lets you configure DCOM settings in the registry. One way you can access it is to select Run on the Start menu, type dcomcnfg, and click OK. You can also access it through Administrative Tools, Component Services. In the Component Services window that appears, navigate to Component Services, Computers, My Computer, DCOM Config. Highlighting the DCOM Config folder fetches a list of all the DCOM objects on your machine. (You might experience a short delay during this time.) Besides fetching the objects, dcomcnfg.exe detects any missing registration. If the utility detects any, it will ask you whether you want to register that component with DCOM. Click Yes. You might be asked this question several times if the utility detects more than one unregistered component. Afterward, you’ll be able to see all the registered DCOM components. You can then close dcomcnfg .exe and check to see whether the problem disappeared. Curiously, sometimes the problem gets fixed, but if you re-open dcom-cnfg.exe, you’re pro

Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement Nightmare Thread Starter Joined: Sep 23, 2004 Messages: 119 I am getting continuous DCOM Errors in the Event Viewer. So I follow the directions listed here: I search the registry, find the key, double click the default and get this: I continue to follow the directions and go the the DCOM Configuration to find the program: The program DOES NOT exist in the DCOM Window. So I am stuck at step 6 on the help window. The culprit is located here in my program folder: C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NetworkAccessManager\bin The program name is: nSvcAppFlt Application 168KB Can you plese help me resolve/correct this? Thank you. Nightmare, Jan 8, 2008 #1 TheOutcaste Joined: Aug 7, 2007 Messages: 9,028 It's part of the NVIDA Firewall on ASUS MB. Be nice if it was named NVIDIA Network Access Manager or NVIDIA Firewall. I don't have an ASUS, or that CLSID on my system, but did some googling and I found this http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=23134 that says the Name is app_filter that you need to edit. It says the CLSID won't match the AppID, but I'd check and see if it's listed: In the component services window, widen it out, then click on View and choose Detail. This should list the Application ID column. Search for {BC866CF2-5486-41F7-B46B-9AA49CF3EBB1} (double check that, I typed it by hand). In the Registry Editor, check the {BC866CF2-5486-41F7-B46B-9AA49CF3EBB1} key for an AppID value and look for that in component services. Also you could check the ProgID key (and the others as well) to see if you can spot the name there.
