I have a software installation package which contains the .msi file, a CAB file and some MST files. I wanted to modify the cabinet file. So I extracted the cab file usingCABARCutility. But before making any changes to the extracted files, just for testing the utility I removed the original cab file from the current directory. And created a new cab file from the files extracted from the original cab file, again using CABARC utility. But now if I run the .msi file, it shows the error. ERROR:1334. repackaged the same app a second time around, the same error message appears but on a different file. One was an .exe and the other a .dll. They have no com settings, no file extensions. I have https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/c866557f-6ee4-4d28-996b-de9267e30553/error-1334-file-cannot-be-found-in-the-data1cab?forum=winformssetup removed both files from the MSI & re-added them, same error message appears. I have even remove the file from the package, but the error appears on a different file in the package. These packages, both compile & are validated correctly with NO errors being produced. I am installing the MSI package on another PC, with admin rights. The error message appears when the msi is copying files. Can some one help me.......! nicholas_ong08-09-2002, 06:59 AMWhen http://community.flexerasoftware.com/archive/index.php?t-100115.html you compiled your package, is it compressed or uncompressed? On installation, are you running it from a network location? Have you tried copying the entire MSI to your local drive and executing from there? Just a few suggestions, hope it helps. magpie08-11-2002, 11:55 PMThe package is compressed. The package is compiled on one PC, then I have shared this directory, then connected to it from the other PC. (How I normally do it) I then have copied it to the local drive, but it still isn't working Ughhh! nicholas_ong08-12-2002, 08:12 AMI feel for ya, btw what application is this? AlaksSevugan08-20-2002, 04:12 PMWhat is the name of the file that the MSi is displaying an error for? Did you make sure that file is in the cab? magpie09-09-2002, 07:04 PMThis error is produced when you have files that are in components and are not marked as 'key files' being copied to the [installdir]. For each error that occurs, you need to make a new component, add the file to it that is causing the errors, set it as a key file. Also, put the new component into the setup area as well. This will resolve the 1334 error messages that are occurring. This then produced another similiar error when building the cab file. I had to rebuild the cab file in the uncompressed mode, as the compres
SP1 EXTRA! X-treme version 9.0 SP2 Summary When attempting to apply a service pack to EXTRA! X-treme 9.0, you may see Error 1334. This technical note provides information to troubleshoot this error. Symptoms When applying EXTRA! X-treme 9.0 Service Pack 1 http://support.attachmate.com/techdocs/2377.html or Service Pack 2, you may see the following installer error: Figure 1. Error 1334. The file '(file name)' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18377826/error-1334-file-cannot-be-found-in-the-data1-cab error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. The file name indicated in the error varies depending on the options installed. For example, the error may be indicated on file F45495_OBJ_TELA.EBH or error 1334 F45497_OBJS_OLE.EBM. Error 1334 may occur in the following circumstances: after opening the .MSP patch to modify the existing local workstation installation. when applying the service pack to an Administrative installation (MSI), using either the service pack Patch Wizard or an msiexec command line. If you are applying the service pack to an Administrative installation using the service pack Patch Wizard, after dismissing the error 1334 dialog and rollback completes, you may see an error 1334 the additional error: Figure 2. The patch was unsuccessful. It returned error number: 1603 Explanation Error 1334 commonly occurs if you originally installed EXTRA! X-treme 9.0 using either of the following methods: The default compressed Atmee90.msi installer file package (located in the \MSI directory of the product CD, or C:\attachmate_temp\extra-9.0-release\MSI after files are extracted in the downloaded product). The compressed Atmee90.msi file is identified by its larger size (approximately 40 MB) since it includes .CAB cabinet files that contain compressed EXTRA! X-treme program files. An .MST transform file and new compressed .MSI file created with the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW). This method is used to deploy additional custom settings or client files. In a default or Typical installation, only the “English (United States)” Language Option is installed. However, the service pack installer attempts to update all language files, thus causing the error. Solution To avoid the error in a compressed MSI installation, apply the service pack to the workstation using one of the following methods. Run the Patch Wizard When you run the Patch Wizard (from the service pack autorun install.exe menu, or rpatch.exe in the download extracted files), select the option “Apply to the Local installation on this workstation.” For more information, see Technical Note 2263. The same installer is working fine with the original cab file. I have tried different compression types (MSZIP, LZX:<15...21>) as well, but none of them work. I have not removed/added any file in the cabinet file. Am I doing anything wrong or if there is any other information that a cabinet file stores ?
