I have a software installation package which contains the .msi file, a CAB file and some MST files. I wanted to modify the cabinet file. So I extracted the cab file usingCABARCutility. But before making any changes to the extracted files, just for testing the utility I removed the original cab file from the current directory. And created a new cab file from the files extracted from the original cab file, again using CABARC utility. But now if I run the .msi file, it shows the error. ERROR:1334. SP1 EXTRA! X-treme version 9.0 SP2 Summary When attempting to apply a service pack to EXTRA! X-treme 9.0, you may see Error 1334. This technical note provides information to troubleshoot this error. Symptoms When applying EXTRA! X-treme http://support.attachmate.com/techdocs/2377.html 9.0 Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2, you may see the following installer error: Figure 1. Error 1334. The file '(file name)' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18377826/error-1334-file-cannot-be-found-in-the-data1-cab file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. The file name indicated in the error varies depending on the options installed. For example, error 1334 the error may be indicated on file F45495_OBJ_TELA.EBH or F45497_OBJS_OLE.EBM. Error 1334 may occur in the following circumstances: after opening the .MSP patch to modify the existing local workstation installation. when applying the service pack to an Administrative installation (MSI), using either the service pack Patch Wizard or an msiexec command line. If you are applying the service pack to an Administrative installation using the service pack Patch Wizard, error 1334 the after dismissing the error 1334 dialog and rollback completes, you may see an additional error: Figure 2. The patch was unsuccessful. It returned error number: 1603 Explanation Error 1334 commonly occurs if you originally installed EXTRA! X-treme 9.0 using either of the following methods: The default compressed Atmee90.msi installer file package (located in the \MSI directory of the product CD, or C:\attachmate_temp\extra-9.0-release\MSI after files are extracted in the downloaded product). The compressed Atmee90.msi file is identified by its larger size (approximately 40 MB) since it includes .CAB cabinet files that contain compressed EXTRA! X-treme program files. An .MST transform file and new compressed .MSI file created with the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW). This method is used to deploy additional custom settings or client files. In a default or Typical installation, only the “English (United States)” Language Option is installed. However, the service pack installer attempts to update all language files, thus causing the error. Solution To avoid the error in a compressed MSI installation, apply the service pack to the workstation using one of the following methods. Run the Patch Wizard When you run the Patch Wizard (from the service pack autorun install.exe menu, or rpatch.exe in the download extracted files), select the option “Appl

The same installer is working fine with the original cab file. I have tried different compression types (MSZIP, LZX:<15...21>) as well, but none of them work. I have not removed/added any file in the cabinet file. Am I doing anything wrong or if there is any other information that a cabinet file stores ?
