After paying for the game, I am being forced to download Steam, but it won't install. I get an error 1334, which is some kind of package error. I am on Windows 7. I don't really want Steam - just want the game - so is there a way to easilly get this installed? Or to just get the game without Steam? I am not even sure what Steam is. I just wanted the game. < > Showing 1-3 of 3 comments Kiya View Profile View Posts 19 Jun, 2013 @ 10:04pm All games bought through the Steam store require you to install the Steam client. LeftHandedGuitarist16-11-2004, 13:08I had exact same problem, re-installed with Counter Strike selected and all worked well. Now I entered my CD key and got a pop up message saying: "Your subscription to Half Life 2 Retail Standard has not been completed, because Steam servers are currently unable to process the transaction. You won't be able to play Half Life 2 Retail Standard until the subscription process is complete. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. The Steam team is working to rectify this situation, and will notify you as soon as the transaction is complete." Am I supposed to just leave the window open and wait and see? This whole register online thing is stupid, I just bought the game and I want to install and play, shouldn't have to bother with this rubbish. EDIT: Took about 15 minutes to authenticate, now unlocking files. Grant666uk16-11-2004, 13:18Just got the same thing. Arghhhhhhhh jnms16-11-2004, 13:19I've just got
