it. Now, that I want to replay EP1 and EP2, I can't!. The problem is with Episode 1. I start the game, loading screen, menu, everything's fine, new game, select 1st chapter and the loading starts. But then, just like 5 bars from finishing the loading my screen goes black and I get 3 errors in a row. The errors are the following: 1st hl2.exe has stopped working error: ENGINE ERROR Internal driver error in IDirect3Device9::Present() 2nd error: hl2.exe - Application Error The instruction at ''0x0e3db423'' referenced memory at ''0x00000024''. The mrmory could not be ''read''. Then I get the third and last error: hl2.exe - Application Error The instruction at ''0x2024c939'' referenced memory at ''0x000011b0''. The memory could not be ''read''. So, Steam geniuses, please take some time to help me out. Give me a shout if you want my DxDiag or whatever, I'm willing to do alot in order to play this epic game. Be sure to scan your computer for viruses/spyware. Try and re-install the game or back-up your game files and re-install. You can also disable your firewall or anti-virus to see if that works too. J

Just follow my instructions in the video!! The key to solve that problem isn't very clear in the video, so i paste here:+mat_forcehardwaresync 0 +sd_async_prefetch_priority 1PS: *Don't forget to leave a space between them *The error may vary (the instruction and the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cA5O44bdfAw referenced memory), but the important thing is that it is named: "HALF LIFE 2: hl2.exe Application error"*Don't forget to enable the console! copy and paste this: "-steam console" after hl2.exe or "-applaunch 22" ...sry i forgot the "r" in the word "erro" in the notepad!!*And for those who want HALF LIFE 2 Non-Steam, go here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyB69W...*If anyone have the C++ Runtime error, i found a fix for it, and you can watch it here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzhxpF...Good luck! hope it works! Upgrading to a DX9 AGP card half life fixed it completely, messing around with the pagefile size (either setting it to zero or manually setting it to some ludicrous amount) did a little to help before I got the new card, though.posted by danhon at 11:26 PM on December 15, 2004 Thanks for the tip. I actually upgraded the drivers for my radeon 9800 half life 2 pro the right way, (by uninstalling them first), and I played uninterrupted for about 6 hours last night. Oh, the feeling of stinging eyes and caffeine-induced twitching. How I've missed you.posted by damnthesehumanhands at 11:30 AM on December 16, 2004 The last post on this page (there doesn't appear to be a way to link to the specific post but the posters name is "Brandymb") of a thread discussing the problem on the Steam User Forums mentions deleting some of the sound cache in the steam/steamapps/[your account]/half-life2/hl2/maps/soundcache directory. I tried this and it worked for me. I just deleted all the .cache files and only had the problem occur twice more (once much later in the game, which was resolved by deleting all the .cache files again, and once more during the closing credits, solved the same way). The game recreates the .cache files when you start it up, so I'm not sure why this even works, but then I don't know much ab
