Now I have many things which I have been using Toast Titanium to burn and I have successfully burned about 10 dvd's - except for the last 2. I get a message stating " The Drive Reported an Error - Sense Key = HARDWARE ERROR , Sense Code = 0x03, 0x01" and "Lead-In or Lead-Out failed to be written". Does anyone else have experience with this problem? It's not very heartening over here since I had to take my last iMac in when the superdrive failed to work and have it replaced with even less usage than this one has. Many thanks in advance for your time and consideration.Rich iMac 20" 2.1 GHz PowerPC G5, 1.5 GB SDRAM....., Mac OS X (10.4), Super-Drive Posted on Mar 23, 2007 2:54 PM I have this question too Close Q: Sense Key/Sense Code Error All replies Helpful answers by DaddyPaycheck, DaddyPaycheck Mar 23, 2007 4:07 PM in response to Rich Gaspers_Jr. Level 6 (16,037 points) Mar 23, 2007 4:07 PM in response to Rich Gaspers_Jr. Rich Gaspers_Jr.-The obvious question is have you tried a different brand of DVD media?Does it burn CD's?Luck--DaddyPaycheck Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by Rich Gaspers_Jr., Rich Gaspers_Jr. Mar 23, 2007 9:34 PM in response to DaddyPaycheck Level 2 (205 points) Mar 23, 2007 9:34 PM in response to DaddyPaycheck Well, yes I have. I originally had bought a brand (a year ago) that the Mac didn't like at all. These last 10 that had burned and worked well were another brand. These are the same brand that are now not burning. Why would the obvious question be about the discs, when it was reported as a hardware problem? Either way, any advice would be valued and appreciated.Rich Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by Rod Hagen, Rod Hagen Mar 23, 2007 10:42 PM in response to Rich Gaspers_Jr. Level 7 (31,985 points) Mar 23, 2007 10:42 PM in response to Rich Gaspers_Jr. For what its worth, Rick, I've seen errors just like this one fixed with different media. Unfortunately the relationship between the message and the cause isn't all that direct!Other things worth considering include: - some directory coruption on your HD disrupting the burn- running something else while burning which hogged processor time- an overfull or badly fragmented HD excessive power demands or some such from a peripheral device.CheersRod Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by Victor Stapf, Victor Stapf May 6, 2007 11:13 AM in response to Rich Gaspers_Jr. Level 1 (0 points) May

I have the Pioneer 116D mentioned in my profile connected via firewire with a new Apple cable. Media used: Verbatim DVD-R, 16x, single layer (4.7GB) Burning files in Toast 9, DVD-ROM UDF mode, aborts at the beginning and a message appears: The drive reported an error: Sense Key= HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code= 0x44, 0x48 INTERNAL TARGET FAILURE As has happened before with other errors, it is quite random. For example, I burn two identical DVDs, one to use, one as backup. The last two times I did this, the first DVD comes out OK and the second one, burned right after, without closing Toast or switching off the Pioneer, reports the error. And last, I always set the Toast speed to Best, but after the last error I set it to 16x (as the Verbatim label says) and got the error anyway. Could the USB PCI cart I just installed be bothering ? All suggestions welcome Thanks, Wendy ? I'm home ! Are you telling Toast you want two copies so that it ejects the first one when done and then asks for another disc or are you clicking the burn button again after burning the first disc? Lastly, does it make a difference is you save as disc image and then burn using the Image File setting in the Copy window? This hasn't been a problem with dozens of discs in the past though...As for the other things, I'll try them and come back to you. Regards, Wendy ? I'm home !
