I just don't know how this happened or why http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r15744637-Hardware-Error-when-I-ping-my-router it's occurring.. but when I unplug my ethernet cable to test the wireless link and then ping the router using command prompt, I just get this: Seconds after plugging the ethernet back in and repeating the same exact command, everything works fine! I get a reply and all. The strange thing about all this is here... All of these are for the wireless connection. Windows is telling me everything is fine, essentially! But why on earh does my wireless connection not work? I just don't get it.I've changed the channel on which the router broadcasts the wireless signal to "2". Do wireless NICs automatically switch to the correct channel when they find a connection? This shouldn't even matter though, because as you can see, I HAVE a standing connection.EDIT:Rewrote the entire post. · actions · 2006-Mar-23 1:18 pm · cacrollEventually, Prozac becomes normalPremium Memberjoin:2002-07-25Martinez, CA cacroll Premium Member 2006-Mar-23 10:15 pm said by illJazz:when I unplug my ethernet cable to test the wireless link and then ping the router using command prompt, I just get this:(SNIP ping with Hardware Erro

Everything works fine but after I wake the https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21860465/Hardware-error-when-I-ping-the-router.html laptop from sleep mode I try to ping and I keep getting a hardware error. After I restart the laptop everything works fine again until it goes into sleep mode again. I've tried looking for other similar problems on google but haven't found anything yet. Just wanted to see if anyone else has run into the same hardware error. problems or had any suggestions as this is getting very annoying. Thanks! Quote Login/register to remove this advertisement. It may be that the NIC isn't reactivating after going to sleep. If it's a Dell I would almost guarantee it. You can always try to recreate the hardware profile and toy with your power options. edit: meh, just saw its a wireless card...prolly not this issue then Quote thomAZ Member Join Date Jun 2009 Location Denver, CO Posts 50 Certifications Net+,Sec+ 12-22-20090

Solved "Hardware error" when I ping the router Posted on 2006-05-23 Networking Protocols Wireless Networking Networking 3 Verified Solutions 16 Comments 18,055 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-29 Hi there, I have a client who has a problem with his wireless connection. He has a simple set up, 3 laptops and 2 towers connect to a belkin router. One tower is cabled the others are all wireless connections. On the other tower ( a 4 month old Dell) he stopped being able to connect to the wireless network. Or rather, he connected to the wireless network ("signal strength excellent") but could not get on the internet or see other computers. On pinging the router I got a response message that said "Hardware error" on each of the 4 packages. My first thought was, change the wireless card, which i did. Same result. Possibly a faulty card? change it again - same result. All 3 of the cards work fine on the other computers. I can ping 127.0.0.1, no problem. Connect with a cable and everything is perfect (apart from 30 feet of cable crossing the office floor) I must admit to being stumped. Any ideas anyone?
