Access 2 Verified Solutions 16 Comments 2,254 Views Last Modified: 2010-04-21 I have an Access database that has been around for several years. One of the tables in my Access database is a link table to a table in Oracle. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/199293 For no apparent reason my Access forms starting failing. One of the things I did to try and fix this was to refresh all of the linked tables. All but one refreshed OK. When I try to refresh the link or create a new link, I get this error: ODBC--call failed [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle]Error in column 11: Numeric value out of range (#0) Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen? The corresponding column in the Access link table https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23458566/Link-Table-Error-Numeric-value-out-of-range-0.html is a Double which should be able to handle any numeric value. The column in Oracle is a FLOAT(126). Is this data related? Did someone finally add something to the table that Access is uncapable of storing? Or is this table format related? Any hints would be much appreciated. 0 Question by:dastrw Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 30 Active today Best Solution byhnasr One idea: Ask the admin of the Oracle database to export the Primary Key and this problrm field to a text file txtFileFloat.txt. Then do the following, First step: Create an access table tblFloat (txtPK, txtFloat) Import the txtFileFloat.txt into tblFloat. Open the table and have a quick scan to see any unusual format. DIAG [22003] [Oracle][ODBC]Numeric value out of range. (0) ChangesThis behavior may occur with no noticeable changes to the environment. CauseThe behavior occurs for very large tables (2.6 billion + rows), and results when the value returned from the ODBC api call exceeds the maximum value returnable via SQL_C_DEFAULT binding, and the error is expected behvior and indicates the value is too large to fit in the bind. SolutionThis is a limitation of Microsoft Access. A potential workaround may be to use DBMS_STATS.SET_TABLE_STATS to alter the data dictionary statistics for the number of rows in the table so that the limit is not exceeded, but should not be undertaken without understanding the impact.
