I had 2 gigs of memory and decided to try upgrading to 4 gigs to see if that would help. All that happened after I installed 4 gigs of memory is that it took a bit longer before I got the "out of memory" error.I did two things which have made the error go away completely (without changing hardware).1) I render sequence changes much more frequently and don't wait until I have a ton of changes to render2) I went into "my computer" and checked my memory settings. I was shocked to see that, by default, Windows set my page file (virtual memory) to roughly 800 meg even though I had 4 gigs of memory. The standard "rule of thumb" is to have your virtual memory set to twice your physical memory. I went the conservative route and changed my virtual memory to 4096 meg.Once I made the above changes, over 8 months ago, I have not had the dreaded "out of memory" error once. Before making those changes I would get the "out of memory" error every single time I was working with a project in Premiere Pro. Pat M Sherman said: I found two things with this error. Are you using Matrox? Also, someone claimed they found a background utility that defragmented active memory, and prevented this specific error, but I can't find that post now. __________________ For more information on these topics, check out my tech website at www.hd4pc.com November 19th, 2007, 08:04 PM #4 Joel Davis New Boot Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 19 I had the same problem some time ago, I solved it by exporting large chunks of the project and then re-importing them into a new project. This gives you a lot less cuts in the timeline and worked for me.
