Want to Advertise Here? Solved XP and VB6 - why do I get an https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/279334 error report? Posted on 2003-09-04 Visual Basic Classic 1 Verified Solution 3 Comments 156 Views Last Modified: 2010-05-03 I've just installed XP SP 1a on a new laptop (formatted disk first) then installed VB6 and Visual Studio SP5, plus SQL Server 2000 (developer edition) and SP3. When I start up or close a VB6 project I get the message "Visual Basic https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20729543/XP-and-VB6-why-do-I-get-an-error-report.html has encountered a problem and needs to close..." I've reinstalled XP SP1a but to no avail. I am tempted to go format the disk and install Windows 2000, but I really would like to get XP working. Any ideas? 0 Question by:crescendo Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 9 Best Solution bycrescendo I found the solution in another area, all credit is due to a_pravarakhya. The answer is to delete the project's .vbw file. It gets rebuilt automatically when you next load the project. I had a problem similar to that a while back and by re-installing vb6 then sp5 the problem went away. I also run on XP. Best of luck. Am leaving on vacation. Security System Protection Control Panel & System Integrity Scan Wizard Popups Started by Dark Eagle , out of memory Apr 19 2008 02:30 AM Please log in to reply 2 replies to this topic #1 Dark Eagle Dark Eagle Members 3 posts OFFLINE Local time:06:27 PM Posted 19 April 2008 - 02:30 AM My PC is infected with 3 malware popups named Security System Proctection Control Panel, System Integrity Scan Wizard and Security System Warning (the last one telling me I have Abebot). I have tried to get rid of them with Kaspersky Antit-Virus, Adaware, spyware sweeper, and SpybotSD, but they are still running. I didn't run the online scan by Kaspersky because I have the most recent version installed and running on my PC. When I ran a rootkit scan with KAV, it took just over four hours and reported my PC was clean. So for whatever reason Kaspersky is not picking up these three forms of malware. Following all other directions on your preliminary instruction list I used Deckard's System Scanner to make two Hijack This files. They are pasted in below. Please take a look and tell me what I should do to get rid of this malware. Thank you very much for this valuable service you are providing.-- Dark EagleDeckard's System Scanner v
changed to read only on a network drive which prevents users from making changes or adding data. Our network is NT 2000. The DB's are Access 97 or 2000. It could be possible that someone is doing this but I wanted to ask if anyone knows if there could be an issue with the network or something that could be changing these files to read only like backup software or something. Thanks for any advice, Greg Greg, Jul 8, 2003 #1 Advertisements Greg Guest Thanks for answering Cheryl. It is the Read Only Attribute that is being changed so it has nothing to do with permisssions. We have hundreds of these Access backend databases throughout our network that are accessed from an Access front end on the clients. It happens randomly which is why I thought it could be someone doing it intentionally or if backup software could be doing it. I know backup software will change certain attributes on a file so it knows if it has changed since the last backup. I don't think anyone has checked other files that may be in the same folder when this happens but it is something we will watch for. Thanks again.
