Why that worked, I don't know, but it seemed to do so. share|improve this answer answered Jan 24 '14 at 20:55 Aliden 152110 For my case I found that .NETFramework,Version=v4.0.AssemblyAttributes.obj file was present in the folder containing binaries for the project. It was hidden. Unhiding it solved the issue. –sabertooth1990 Oct 1 '14 at 7:10 add a comment| up vote 2 down vote This may not be a permission issue at all but may be a file lock issue. I believe this can happen, if you are: Building the entire solution Building in parallel Not properly defining project

I read one answer where a responder said to right click and 'install as admininstrator', so I re-installed Visual C++again that way,but to no avail. I then went to the 'VC' folder, as that seems to be where the '.obj' files are written and removed the 'read only' property, but still no luck. I am compiling using the Visual Studio Command Prompt with the instructions: 'cl /EHsc c:\dvlp\simple.cpp'. I also have Visual C++ 2010 Express installed on my Windows XP computer at work, and have had no problems using the same program and methods. I am a beginner into the Microsoft Visual Studio environment, but was a great C programmer in past years. Answer Ensure that you (the user that is running Rhapsody) have rights (update. write, read, modify and delete) to the Program files folder. There are some organizations that prevent users from accessing the root drive (C: Drive) as well as the C:\Program Files folder. This will cause all sorts of issues because IBM Rational Rhapsody needs to be able to read, write, modify and write to the location where you install Rational Rhapsody. If the problem persists then please contact IBM Rational Client Support (1-800-IBM-SERV), as it may be related to other factors and will need further investigation.
