"Cannot open this item". If the user selects "Open the series" the appointment opens just fine. The permissions on thecalendar are Default: Author. If I change the permission to Default: Editor they do not cannot open meeting item you don't have appropriate permission get the error but I do not what them to have editor permissions. Because the user with Author permissions does not have write access to this meeting, he gets an error. When opening the series (or an exception item of the series), the user does not need write access, and is able to open and view the entire series (because he has Full Details read permissions). Workaround would be to give the user Editor permissions. Additional Information Previous Outlook versions simply open the series as read-only and do not give the option to open an occurrence. (Confirmed with Outlook 2007.) Cheers, Tony Chen Forum Support ________________________________________ Come back and mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help. However, when she tries to open ANY instance of this https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/26537968/User-cannot-open-a-certain-Outlook-calendar-item.html recurring meeting, she gets a pop up box saying: "Cannot open this item. The operation failed. The object cannot be found". I get the error as well if I access her calendar, so it can't be related to the PC itself (I already tried deleting the frmcache.dat files and realized since I cannot open it either, it's probably not that). The most annoying part is that she keeps getting reminders for the most recent meeting (they happen weekly) and it won't allow her to decline it. Any ideas? 0 Question by:Tex_ka95 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 9 Best Solution byjebeckham It's probably a corrupt calendar entry. If you have another store available, try moving the user's mailbox to a different store and specify to skip some number of corrupt items (50) during the move. I then went back to the date when a cancellation was sent and tried to open that one which resulted in the same error... Thanks. A few days ago the meeting organiser sent out a cancellation for this week's particular occurrence - normally it would be removed from my calendar but for some reason this didn't happen. I am now trying to delete the occurrence manually which I can usually do either by double clicking and choosing to open that occurrence's invite, or by right clicking and choosing Delete, then choosing the occurrence. This way it won't impact the overall recurring invite. However since the cancellation, right clicking the invite does nothing - no pop up appears. If I double click it, I receive the following error: I've tried changing the Current View from Day/Week/Month to some of the list views such as Events but I can't seem to find the meeting. It seems from the error that the actual message itself has long been deleted but for some reason it still persists in the calendar UI.
