around, the same error message appears but on a different file. One was an .exe and the other a .dll. They have no com settings, no file extensions. I have removed both files from the MSI & re-added them, same error message appears. I have even remove the file from the package, but the error appears on a different file in error 1334 office 2013 the package. These packages, both compile & are validated correctly with NO errors being produced. I am installing the MSI package on another PC, with admin rights. The error message appears when the msi is copying files. Can some one help me.......! nicholas_ong08-09-2002, 06:59 AMWhen you compiled your package, is it compressed or uncompressed? On installation, are you running it from a network location? Have you tried copying the entire MSI to your local drive and executing from there? Just a few suggestions, hope it helps. magpie08-11-2002, 11:55 PMThe package is compressed. The package is compiled on one PC, then I have shared this directory, then connected to it from the other PC. (How I normally do it) I then have copied it to the local drive, but it still isn't working Ughhh! nicholas_ong08-12-2002, 08:12 AMI feel for ya, btw what application is this? AlaksSevugan08-20-2002, 04:12 PMWhat is the name of the file that the MSi is displaying an error for? I have a software installation package which contains the .msi file, a CAB file and some MST files. I http://community.flexerasoftware.com/archive/index.php?t-100115.html wanted to modify the cabinet file. So I extracted the cab file using CABARC utility. But before making any changes to the extracted files, just for testing the utility I removed the original cab file from the current directory. And created a new cab file from the files extracted from the original cab file, again using CABARC utility. But now if I run the .msi file, it shows the error: ERROR:1334. The file "XYZ" cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18377826/error-1334-file-cannot-be-found-in-the-data1-cab the cabinet file Data1.cab. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. But the file is present in the cabinet file I can see that. The same installer is working fine with the original cab file. I have tried different compression types (MSZIP, LZX:<15...21>) as well, but none of them work. I have not removed/added any file in the cabinet file. Am I doing anything wrong or if there is any other information that a cabinet file stores ? Thanks. windows wix windows-installer installer cab share|improve this question edited Dec 21 '15 at 14:19 Henrik 1,518721 asked Aug 22 '13 at 10:23 rsKRISH 128113 1 Did you ever find anything out? –granadaCoder Jul 14 '14 at 13:41 Did you get the solution for the above problem? This has been in use for many months. We now realized that AI used to package some files error 1334 - d1,d2,d3 which are not needed. Therefore we removed them from our project and created an installer A2 which does not package the above mentioned unwanted files. (atleast thats what we expect) Things are ok when I use this installer the usual way...but when I use this for a silent install, I get the following error: Error 1334. The file d1 cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'myMedia1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from error 1334 the the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. I googled this and saw that people usually encounter this whn u release a patch or some installer release where some files are removed or moved around. Apparently, msiexec tries to reference some cached version of these variables and since it still looks for the missing files in the new installer, install fails. Is there a way to tackle this? - like some way to have msiexec use just the .msi file I provide in the input rather some cached version. Thanks... wix msiexec share|improve this question asked Aug 6 '13 at 17:07 techieChamp 77113 1 Make sure you are using one of the established upgrade types and are implementing it correctly. Also make sure you are following the component design and change rules. (See the links for item 2.2 here). –Tom Blodget Aug 6 '13 at 18:18 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote It sounds like you could receive this error if you haven't updated the PackageCode, ProductCode, or UpgradeCode for your A2 installer. If A1 is installed, and then A2 runs with the same PackageCode, ProductCode, and UpgradeCode the system thinks you are running the A1 installer again and will look for the cached A1 msi under C:\windows\installer. share|improve this answer answered Aug 9 '13 at 3:23 jbudreau 760617 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sig
