These situations have the following elements in common: - Using error 1334 quickbooks dynamic file linking. - Using the "Previous Package" option in the Release View. - Multiple files in the setup with the same name. The only scenario I have been able to come up with that reproduces the problem is as follows: Step 1. Create a base project as follows: One feature with two components. The first component has a dynamic link to a file "test.txt" (do not include subfolders). The second component has a static link to a file "test.txt". In Direct Editor, in the File table, note that the file key for the static file is "test.txt". The Release should be a CD-ROM-based release with all files compressed. This will create a single external CAB that is easy to examine. Step 2. Build the base project. If you look at the File table in the MSI, note that the file keys are "test.txt" and "test.txt1". Step 3. Modify the base project as follows: Set the "Previous Package" release setting to the package from step 2. Add a third component. In this component, add a new static link to "test.txt". In Direct Editor, in the File table, note that the file keys are "test.txt"
follows: "Error 1334. The file 'xxx.xxx' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error reading the cdrom, or a problem with this package." The file is present on the system. I have looked at the security settings, both the 'system' & 'everyone' users, all have admin rights. I have check all the paths, variables & the table editor, all looks correct. I have even repackaged the same app a second time around, the same error message appears but on a different file. One was an .exe and the other a .dll. They have no https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?103974-1334-runtime-error-with-dynamic-file-linking com settings, no file extensions. I have removed both files from the MSI & re-added them, same error message appears. I have even remove the file from the package, but the error appears on a different file in the package. These packages, both compile & are validated correctly with NO errors being produced. I am installing the MSI package on another PC, with admin rights. The error message appears when the msi http://community.flexerasoftware.com/archive/index.php?t-100115.html is copying files. Can some one help me.......! nicholas_ong08-09-2002, 06:59 AMWhen you compiled your package, is it compressed or uncompressed? On installation, are you running it from a network location? Have you tried copying the entire MSI to your local drive and executing from there? Just a few suggestions, hope it helps. magpie08-11-2002, 11:55 PMThe package is compressed. The package is compiled on one PC, then I have shared this directory, then connected to it from the other PC. (How I normally do it) I then have copied it to the local drive, but it still isn't working Ughhh! nicholas_ong08-12-2002, 08:12 AMI feel for ya, btw what application is this? AlaksSevugan08-20-2002, 04:12 PMWhat is the name of the file that the MSi is displaying an error for? Did you make sure that file is in the cab? magpie09-09-2002, 07:04 PMThis error is produced when you have files that are in components and are not marked as 'key files' being copied to the [installdir]. For each error that occurs, you need to make a new component, add the file to it that is causing the errors, set it as a key file. Also, put the new component into the setup area as well. This will resolve the 1334 error messages that are occurring. This

I have created a setup with the migrated project. I haven't done any changes in the ISM file (after upgradation to IS 2009) . While installing the setup Iam getting error as: Error 1334.The file newGen.gif' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. But the gif file is located in the cabinet file.....I found out that in IS 12 ism file, the image file name looks like "newGen.gif" - Actuall file contains exactly the same name (some are capital and some are small). After converting IS 12 ISM to IS 2009 ISM file, all the image file name in ISM are saving as small letters only - something like "newgen.gif". This causes the problem. Can any body help me out in why IS 2009 is saving file names as small letters only.... (I have saved ISM in XML format. after that opened the file in a notepad and traced out the changes). Can anybody help me in resolving this issue. .................Thanks in advance ...
