Error 1334 The File Hl2 Ico1 Cannot
it fails with the error - Error 1334. The file 'hl2.ico1' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'hl24.cab'.... According to my copy of the DVD this file is in hl25.cab!! Anyone any ideas? dan13l16-11-2004, 12:33I just posted in the other thread, didn't see this one. I've downloaded mine on Steam, but my dad has just phoned me because he gets the same error... The SteamPowered.Com forums are down at the moment, so can't check on there...I'll keep digging and see what I can find. It could, of course, be a bad disc? Where did yours come from? bumfrog16-11-2004, 12:41you could try copying the install files drom the dvd to the hard drive and running it from there.... karellen16-11-2004, 12:42Got it from PCWorld. I have found another mention of the same problem in another forum but he has not replied how he actually fixed it - hl2.ico1 error (http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=51445) ShakeyJake16-11-2004, 12:43If you have a fast connection maybe you could put in the cd key in the "Register a product I already own..." thing, then download the files off steam dan13l16-11-2004, 12:47That thread has a bit more info in now - looks like you need to install CS:Source as well, otherwise it doesn't work... karellen16-11-2004, 12:54Just read that new info: I had also unticked the CS:Source installation. Reinstalling now....................... *fingers crossed* EDIT: Sorted - waiting on Steam now. dan13l16-11-2004, 12:58*fingers crossed* Do let us know how it goes :) Good luck! LeftHandedGuitarist16-11-2004, 13:08I had exact same problem, re-installed with Counter Strike selected and all worked well. Now I entered my CD key and got a pop up message saying: "Your subscription to Half Life 2 Retail Standard has not been completed, because Steam servers are currently unable to process the transaction. You won't be able to play Half Life 2 Retail Standard until the subscription process is complete. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. The Steam team is working to rectify this situation, and will notify you as soon as the transaction is complete." Am I supposed to just leave the window open and wait and see? This whole register online thing is stupid, I just bought the game and I want to install and play, shouldn't have to bother with this rubbish. EDIT: Took about 15 minutes to authenticate, now unlocking files. Grant666uk16-11-2004, 13:18Just got the same thing. Arghhhhhhhh jnms16-11-2004, 13:19I've just got the same message. No idea what we're supposed to do now... :( Gavin16-11-2004, 13:21Sit and wait I guess and thank yourself lucky you're trying now unlike the rest of us poor sods that have

I downloaded Steam (ridiculous) and created an account and began installing the game. However, the 4th disc will stop and say that it has found "Error 1334:the file 'hl2.ico1' cannot be installed because the file cannotbe http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/914642-half-life-2/42512189 found in cabinet file 'hl24.cab'. this could indicate a network error,an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."Now my disc drive works fine on every other game and Half Life 2 installs with no problems on my friend's computer, but I have tried to install it 5 times and it never lets me do it. Any help or suggesstions?User Info: CybhoundCybhound 9 years ago#2Steam based games are tied to a CD keyDon't bother installing since it will not work.God created the Earth, the Dutch only made it better.http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/5986/schwartzuu6.jpgUser Info: scaredofchakascaredofchaka (Topic Creator)9 years ago#3Well I do not think it is Steam based. I have the 5 discs needed to install it WITH the CD-Key on one of the cases. Its the actual game that he went out and bought, box and all. I did not download it.User Info: CybhoundCybhound 9 years ago#4I meant the cd-keys are tied to a steam account. without the account you can't play.God created the Earth, the Dutch only made it better.http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/5986/schwartzuu6.jpg User Info: undersimonundersimon 9 years ago#5No, that's not true. I was yet to re-install HL2 onto my newly built monster rig of a error 1334 PC and since I still have the original disc thought this would be quicker than downloading it, even though it'll get patched to death afterwards, but it seems attempting to install from the disc no longer works. I get this error message: Error 1334. The file 'hl2.ico1' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file 'hl24.cab'. This could indicate a network error, error 1334 the an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. CD-ROM?! HL2 is on a DVD. The message appears while the installer is copying hl2.ico from the disc. The icon file for the desktop shortcut of all things. I'm now having to download the game instead, so I may as well throw the disc away? soopytwist View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by soopytwist Find Threads by soopytwist 05-11-2013, 07:18 AM #2 pizzahut Join Date: Jan 2003 Reputation: 2019 Posts: 5,226 Did you try Google? I couldn't find a thread on here for it so I assumed I was the first to have the error. Seems you have to install Counter Strike Source as well, otherwise the installer fails. soopytwist View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by soopytwist Find
