Is My Domain Available
MS SBS 2003? up vote 2 down vote favorite We have a server that is running 2003 SBS and is Active Directory Controller. When I try to login to the domain, I receive a message that the domain is not available. I have configured my user account and permissions accordingly. This is a problem that has been observed by others at our firm. It takes multiple attempts to finally have the server accept your login. Does anyone domain unavailable have any ideas about how to troubleshoot this? Should I look at the DNS or the AD Settings? As a first step, check the server and then check the clients. The server should be using itself only for DNS and the clients should be using the server only for DNS. Check that the server is registered in DNS with it's internal ip address. share|improve this answer answered Aug 2 '10 at 18:18 joeqwerty 83.5k246121 Thanks, it was a combination of DNS and DHCP. Twice in the past month its given the dreaded error "The system cannot log you on now because the domain * is not available" http://serverfault.com/questions/166379/how-to-fix-cannot-login-because-domain-not-available-error-in-ms-sbs-2003 Its worth adding that he is the only user on this laptop and it has never happened in the 2 years he has had the laptop. Also we haven't made any changes to the DC (running 2008 R2). Just wondering if anyone has had this issue and if so could you give me some pointers. Thanks! I uninstalled a couple of programs (games) and deleted some of my documents and pictures to make a bit of space. However, when I restarted soon after, I got the error, "The system cannot log you on now because the domain
