Every DVD, purchased or burned with my Pioneer DVD Burner, comes up with a "Supported disc not available" message. The Apple support site has a nonsense message to the effect that their DVD player doesn't play some DVD's. The drive plays CD's just fine. Disc utility recognises the DVD, identifies the movie title and all the characteristics of the disc. I'm a noobie and its beeen a long day so user brain damage could easily be setting in. Am I missing something? Can anyone offer help or am I going to have make a nuisance of myself with Apple? This problem notwithstanding, the 24" iMac is awesome running Google Earth. First time you play a DVD the DVD player should come up and ask you to set the drive region, but you need to be an admin to do this, and I've seen it happen before if you weren't an admin it just didn't recognize the disks. P.S. I just answered almost the same question on another forum for a user with a brand new MacBook Pro ... so maybe there's something going on problem wise with the DVD player app/hardware in new machines?
