the machine, I will see the status as Ready for a very short period of time before it switches to 'Not Avaialble'.The printer will print a self diagnostic page just fine and up until a few weeks ago it worked just fine. But I don't know what changed that may have caused this issue. Went through checking drivers, ports and parallel cables. What it came down to was low ink. The owner removed the ink tanks and shook them. Re-installed them and then I re-installed the printer. I started working after that.Going back to the first post it is not clear if this printer was previously installed on that computer. The parallel port type may be set wrong. I think the default type is SPP, which works with older printers. Your printer may need a more advanced setting. Find those settings in integrated peripherals in the BIOS. See in Thread ↓#1 OtheHill November 28, 2009 at 18:03:27 Could be a bad connection on the cable. Re-seat both ends. Or if you made any changes to the BIOS the parallel port itself or the type of parallel port settings may have changed. If the CMOS battery has died the BIOS setting revert to Default. Boot to the BIOS screens and check the date. If wrong the CMOS battery needs replacing and the mentioned settings may need adjustment. It seems to me in previous posts there have been a lot of issues using Epsons window's drivers. Most people end up using OPOS. If you must use window's drivers you might be better off switching to a Star printer. There doesn't seem to be any issues with their window's drivers.
