"Out of memory" errors it might be caused by the windows indexing service. By default the indexing service is set to manual and volumes by default have the service selected. Our "optimize" document says to disable this service. A system without the indexing service disabled may get an out of memory error as soon as a project is opened. The application may still run and progress bars indicating indexing for some volumes may flash up periodically. Check to see if there are networked share volumes being indexed. Goto

This means that the application can take advantage of all the memory installed in the system. As a result, the memory indicator has been removed from the Project Window, as it is no longer necessary. Customers experiencing issues with memory are strongly encouraged to upgrade to the latest version of editor to take advantage of the 64-bit architecture. The following are steps to take to manage your memory that are especially applicable to Media Composer 5.5, Symphony 5.5, NewsCutter 9.5 and earlier. While they still hold true in newer versions, editors are not likely to enco

I've dealt with this as well over the years. It was "kind of" suggested earlier in the post to delete still shots out of the sequence - as a starting point to try and at least make it render.I would also submit - if you have multiple kinds of clips (still shots, different video - whatever) - try removing every other kind of clip except for the most used format for one clip - and start out of memory there. Then add in the extra stuff one at a time to see if you can find something that trips it up.For example - a majority of DV clips, combined with a little 422 footage, or resized HD footage, some Jpegs and PNGs - just remove everything except the DV clips - and then start adding them back in to see what causes the problem.hope this helpsss Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by yet another..., yet another... I am in the middle of a big job for corporate and sitting here dealing with the exact same issue. It's 11:40pm Friday night - New Year's weekend. This project has been giving me problems that I've not seen before.I'm on a 3GHz Dual Quad core with 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 and all my Apple ProRes (LT) files are on a 16TB SAS RAID (hardware controller card) built by DAT Optics. I realize many of you may laugh at 4GB of RAM, but in Activity Monitor I normally don't tap half of it - little decompressing going on and the speed of my RAID is... well it's rippin' fast. Only when I create lower thirds in Motion do I ever see a bit more of the RAM tapped. On this
