is set to something higher than what your out of range monitor windows 8 monitor can display. For example, if your monitor d-sub out of range 63.9 khz / 60hz supports resolutions of up to 1024x768 and your video card allows you to crank

it up to 1600x1200, doing so will give you an error. Another reason you might get the error is if the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5lmoWaB4i8 refresh rate you selected a certain resolution is higher than what your monitor supports. The monitor can't "sync" with the video card, so it just gives you that "Out of Range" error. If you are sure you have your resolution set at a reasonable http://pc.net/helpcenter/answers/sync_out_of_range_error amount, make sure that your monitor is plugged in all the way. Actually, if you're like me, that might be the first thing to check. =) If you are using Windows, hold down the F8 key while the computer is starting up and choose "Safe Mode" from the list of options that appears on the screen. This should force the display to be a low enough resolution so that it will work. On a Mac, hold down the Shift key while booting up to start with extensions off, and that will usually do the trick. Once in Safe Mode, decrease your video card resolution to a resolution that's supported by the monitor. If you've changed the monitor resolution, reboot the computer to http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001265.htm see if this resolves the issue. If the resolution is supported or following http://www.fixya.com/support/t1570684-projector_says_out_range the above steps did not help, we suggest reinstalling the drivers for your monitor and video card by following the remainder of the steps. In Safe Mode, open the Windows Device Manager. Once in Device Manager, expand the "Display adapters" and "Monitors" sections and remove each of the devices listed under those two out of sections. You can do this by highlighting each device and pressing the delete key. Once the Display adapters and Monitors have been removed, reboot the computer and let Windows reinstall the drivers for these devices. If Windows cannot find the drivers or you need updated drivers for either of these devices, see the computer drivers section. If after following the steps above, your monitor still displays the out of range " Input signal out of range" error message, you may have a bad monitor or bad video card. Try one or both of the following options to determine if the monitor or video card is potentially bad. Connect your monitor to another working computer. If the monitor works on another computer, then your computer potentially has a bad video card. Borrow a working monitor from a friend or family member and connect it to your computer. If that monitor works, then your monitor is likely bad and should be replaced. If that monitor does not work as well, then your computer potentially has a bad video card. After trying the options above, if you find that the issue may be a bad video card, we recommend that you replace the video card or have it professionally repaired. Contributor 13 Answers Re: projector says out of range The native resolution on the 6100 is 800x600. I have had it recognize 640x480 and 1024x768 though. Check your computer to make sure the resolution is 800x600. Also set the refresh rate at 60htz, if the refresh is too high it can give out of range errors.
