Frequency Out Of Range Dayz
play any game (counter-strike, call of duty 2) And after a while, my game freezes then goes black and then says "Frequency Out Of Range Try Other Resolutions" Well i have to restart my http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/42107/monitor-says-frequency-out-of-range-try-other-resolution/ computer using the computer button and then i change my resolution and then it still happens. Any suggestions? AdrianClarke, Jan 7, 2006 #1 Sponsor kiwiguy Joined: Aug 17, 2003 Messages: 17,584 The message is from the monitor itself, not from the computer. It is advising you that the monitor refresh rate or scan rate exceeds that which the monitor can handle. An interesting issue, since https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-frequency-out-of-range.431913/ it happens while in the game, but it strongly suggests that either the CPU or the Video card is overheating and causing a reset which is defaulting to the non accepted video output. As games are both CPU and Video intensive it could be either that is causing the problem. kiwiguy, Jan 7, 2006 #2 AdrianClarke Thread Starter Joined: Oct 25, 2004 Messages: 329 Ohh from the montior itself...so i can change the montior and see if that works? And also, it started happening when i upgraded to ATI Catalyst 5.13...and then i had problems with that so tried Omega 5.12 drivers AdrianClarke, Jan 7, 2006 #3 kiwiguy Joined: Aug 17, 2003 Messages: 17,584 Changing the monitor is unlikely to be helpful. I will explain it again. The message states that the monitor is getting the wrong signal from the computer (refresh rate too high or scan rate too high). As this happens (according to your post) part way through a game, it indicates something is going wrong in the COMPUTER. Probably your video card is failing, perhaps overheating. kiwiguy, Jan 7, 2006 #4 loony_taz00 Joined: Mar 30, 2005 Messages: 547 Ya, If it was hte monitor

It sounds fairly normal attempting to boot up, however all I ot was these messages on my monitor saying "Error Frequency Out of Range" and it gave some numbers in Hertz. It now doesn't get even get that far; now the monitor stays black. The power light stays normal though. About two weeks ago I added a new mouse and upgraded my cpu - then this happend. I put my old cpu back in and it still does it. I can't start in safemode, nor enter the bios - the computer doesn't get that far! Thanks in advance for any help! 18-06-2007,12:43 PM #2 pctek View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Visit Homepage Senior Member Join Date Feb 2005 Location In the Wild West Posts 23,293 Re: Need Help: "Frequency out of Range" Its generally because your resolution or refresh rate is too high for the monitor to support. You should be able to boot in safe mode though. I'd be checking the graphics card/chip. 18-06-2007,12:45 PM #3 Speedy Gonzales View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Member Join Date Dec 2004 Location NZ Posts 44,411 Re: Need Help: "Frequency out of Range" That usually comes up when the refresh rate is too high. Not took sure how u can change it if the monitor doesnt come on. Unless there's an AUTO button or something on the front of the monitor. That can fix it. Try it on another if
