One night after routine updates of a few modules the error started appearing. Even when I downgraded those modules it was too late. The damage https://www.drupal.org/node/463234 was done. HERE IS THE CATCH. The error appears after allocating no more than 41156608 bytes (~40M) in EVERY case, sometimes less. This is FAR below the memory limit, which my host - HostGator, has now upped to 512M in an effort to problem solve. They have overridden the set server limits in my case in an attempt to eliminate causes. Also it doesn't just happen when accessing information from one specific module or module table. I've seen this error attached to: 1. .../sites/all/modules/simplenews/simplenews.admin.inc on line 1190 2. .../sites/all/modules/ubercart/uc_cart/uc_cart.pages.inc on line 190 3. .../includes/theme.inc on line 758 4. .../includes/database.mysql.inc on line 301 5. .../sites/all/modules/views/includes/admin.inc on line 2707 Since the error first occurred, I've upgraded to Drupal 6.11 (in hopes of overwriting any bugs) and I've completely removed some modules using Filezilla and taken many more offline directly through the database System table with no effect. I consistently rerun update.php throughout these changes. So the number of active modules is much less than before the error started to occur. My host is trying everything but has c

My server's limit is at its maximum allowed by my provider (32 MB). Those errors appears mostly when interacting with the modules page, but it's also appearing for any user who tries renewing his password, or editing nodes. Thus, would you have any advice on how to lower the memory usage? out of memory P.S.: I've noticed most of those errors include views and views plugins .inc files. Drupal 7 requires fair bit of memory and so do Views, Panels, etc. If upgrading to a hosting plan where you have at least 128MB is not an option I would at least make sure the following modules are kept disabled: Update Manager Database Logging Field UI Views UI Panels In-Place Editor Any other "UI" module Do your development locally and use version control & Features to update your production box. share|improve this answer answered May 28 '11 at 13:43 Alex 4,56511547 2 To notice that Views UI is only necessary when editing an existing view, or adding a new view; for the normal usage, Views UI is not necessary, and Views will work normally even when that module is disabled. –kiamlaluno♦ May 28 '11 at 14:03 1 exactly, the same goes for any of the other "UI" modules. They are only necessary for development. Fields will work without the UI, so will Context, etc.. –Alex May 28 '11 at 15:13 4 However, views (not UI) itself h
Ideally, for a memory issue, you would want to change your php settings to increase php memory allotted. In the case of most hosting providers, you do not have permissions or the ability to change the php.ini file, so here is another option: 1. Log-in to your site via FTP 2. Locate the base install of your Drupal installation - often "www" or "public_html" 3. Open/edit the .htaccess file 4. Insert the following into the .htaccess file: php_value memory_limit 96M 5. Save the file and rewrite the .htaccess file on the server 6. Most memory issues should be resolved The Solution Related Posts Working with File Fields in Drupal 7 Apr 07, 2011Tom McCrackenRead more Drupal and Google Analytics - How to Track Downloads when using the File Entity Module Sep 23, 2016Kristin BrinnerRead more Tricks for a Better Memory May 27, 2010RachelRead more Hostmonster / Bluehost Symlinks Issues Impacting Images and CSS - Drupal CMS Feb 02, 2010Brent BiceRead more How to Choose Your Hosting Provider for Your Drupal Installation Apr 19, 2011Super UserRead more How to install CKEditor with CKFinder in Drupal in 30 seconds.* May 13, 2010davidmcgarryRead more Search L10 SearchSearch Contact Us 10000 N.
