I understand that Out of stack space means something is continuously pushing data onto the stack and when it gets full the stack has no more space. Can any one help on how to go about fixing this error? The problem occurs in the following scenario: I have around 20 Property Get and Set Statements in my code and this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2332766/runtime-error-28-out-of-stack-space-in-vb-6-0 problem occurs when my code tries to assign a value (lets say for 9th property) Public Property Get Language() As String Language = m_strLanguage End Property Public Property Let Language(ByVal strLanguage As String) m_strLanguage = strLanguage End Property My code goes in to a recursive loop. vb6 share|improve this question edited Feb 25 '10 at 9:13 Anton Gogolev 77.9k26148244 asked Feb 25 '10 at 9:03 user171476 624 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote Do you have a logic error that's causing a recursive loop? Have you looked back down the call stack to see why the recursive loop is occurring? share|improve this answer answered Feb 25 '10 at 9:14 MarkJ 24.9k34878 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Thanks for your suggestions. You were right . I have fixed the problem and the code is now running fine. The problem was with how the Let property was set : I have passed the wrong variable which is now corrected. Public Property Let Language(ByVal strLanguage As String) Language = strLanguage End Property which made the code to go an recursive loop, The correct code is: Public Property Let Language(ByVal strLanguage As String) m_strLanguage= strLanguage End Property share|improve this answer edited Feb 25 '10 at 17:38 quamran

It worked with a small amount of data, but now that I tried to run the same code out of stack with over 1,000 records, it is getting Error 28 which is "Out of stack space". I will not copy all of my code here because it would be way too much and I think unnecessary, unless you think otherwise. I think it is a problem with my recursion of the sub. I need this because a DONOR_CONTACT_ID can only have 4 recipients, if it has more, then it must create a new record with the same DONOR_CONTACT_ID and populate the recipients. Here is the sub routine which is getting the error: Sub NextDonor() With rstOutput .FindNext "[DONOR_CONTACT_ID] = " & strDonor2 'Find the next record in T_OUTPUT with that DONOR_CONTACT_ID If .NoMatch Then 'If there are no more records with that DONOR_CONTACT_ID, add a new one .AddNew !DONOR_CONTACT_ID = strDonor1 !RECIPIENT_1 = strRecip1 !ORDER_NUMBER = strOrderNum1 .Update Else 'A second DONOR_CONTACT_ID in T_OUTPUT exists. Check to see if all fields are filled. If !DONOR_CONTACT_ID = strDonor2 Then If IsNull(!RECIPIENT_2) And Not (IsNull(!RECIPIENT_1)) Then 'RECIPIENT_2 is empty, so populate it .Edit !RECIPIENT_2 = strReci
I have two PCI-232/16 devices in one computer. I would like to communicate to all 32 ports using Visual Basic 6 and MSComm. Why do I get Runtime Error 28: Out of Stack Space when trying to access ports greater than 16? Solution: When you are communicating serially to any device with Visual Basic and MSComm, the maximum COM port you can use is 16. If you set the CommPort property to be greater than 16, a "out of stack space" runtime error will be generated. When establishing a connection, you should use the MSComm.CommPort property to set the comm port for communication. MSComm, however, has a limitation on the range of COM ports that can be set. The range of values for CommPort can be any number between 1 and 16 (default is 1). For more information on basic serial communication, see the knowledge base or MSDN links below.
