Description lionel valero 2008-10-06 10:24:46 UTC Hello, server ubuntu 64bits (3.0.4 compiled) client mac os x leopard (3.0.4 compiled) command on client : /usr/local/bin/rsync -avz -i --iconv=UTF8-MAC,ISO8859-15 --delete -e ssh /Users/kalypso/Documents kalypso@IP_SERVER:/home/MACUSERS/kalypso/ got the error on client : rsync error: error allocating core memory buffers (code 22) at io.c(635) regards. Comment 1 Matt McCutchen 2008-10-09 12:10:25 UTC I do not see how you could get that message with an rsync 3.0.4 client because io.c line 635 is in a comment. It would make sense if the client were 3.0.3, because in rsync 3.0.3, io.c line 635 contains the exit_cleanup(RERR_STREAMIO) that indicates a broken network connection. That still leaves us to explain why the printed message corresponds to RERR_MALLOC instead of RERR_STREAMIO. The way I can see this happening is if the client hit an RERR_MALLOC and tried to communicate with the server during cleanup but failed because the connection had broken. A recursive _exit_cleanup call should probably preserve the original file and line just like the original exit code in order to give consistent output. To troubleshoot this problem, we'll need to see the last part of rsync's output at -vvvv verbosity level, which will include th

Is there an option in rsync that I can use to handle this issue? Otherwise, I'll have to devise a way to divide the directory list into smaller chunks. 0 Question by:babyb00mer Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 68 Active today Best Solution bywoolmilkporc Hi, I assume that you're using the 32-bit version of the rsync rpm under AIX? Check with "rpm -qa | grep rsync". If you don't see the string "...rsync-64bit..." in the package name your rsync version Go to Solution 22 Comments LVL 68 Overall: Level 68 Unix OS 53 Storage Software 13 Operating Systems 8 Message Active today Accepted Solution by:woolmilkporc2011-08-10 Hi, I assume that you're using the 32-bit version of the rsync rpm under AIX? I don't do this automatically so I used root account to perform this task. Any suggested fix on this one? Should I increase ram? Also, whose fault is this, the remote location or the local? Thank you. Update:: nope, not a ram issue, i forgot i was monitoring my ram and just checked the log files. File path+name is not over 80 characters, and i've tried using file names not containing "special" characters like %, ( etc. but no luck yet. Also tried the registry tweak for cygwin to have more memory, but it didn't make a difference. Any ideas? I had to rename the file to prevent a "Maximum setlocal recursion level reached" error from filling up my screen and eventually ended up commenting out the SETLOCAL instruction.I also messed with the HOME variable, and tried specifying the path to id_ssh (cygwin w
