With Outlook running, expand the Notification Area in the bottom right corner so that the Outlook icon becomes visible. Hold the CTRL button and right click on the Outlook icon. Choose: Test E-mail AutoConfiguration… Fill out your email address and password. Disable the options for “Use Guessmart” and “Secure Guessmart Authentication” so that only “Use AutoDiscover” is enabled. Press the Test button. Check the results. If unsuccessful, then AutoDiscover probably hasn't been configured at all. This is an unsupported configuration and your Exchange administrator needs to correct this. He or she can find more information about how to do so in the “Exchange Administrator information” section below. If successful, then the URL for the OOF service might be missing or set to the wrong URL. A successful AutoDiscover detection result. Creating just the profile on a machine that has no joined your domain or using a domain account that is not the owner of the mailbox will not work. You can ALWAYS enable/disable the OOF from OWA. SystemsHome / Problems / Office Assistant Error in Windows 7 Last reviewed on May 16, 2012 —No Comments I’ve had a few questions about Outlook 2003 on Windows 7 that result in an Agent error: “The Office Assistant requires Microsoft http://www.slipstick.com/problems/office-assistant-error-windows-7/ Agent 2.0 or later versions. This product is available in the Office System Pack.” Since Agent is not included in Windows 7, anyone who tries to use the Office Assistant will receive this error. The solution http://www.groovypost.com/howto/microsoft/outlook/enable-out-of-office-assistant-auto-reply-outlook-2007/ is to not use the Office Assistant. For those users who want to use the Office Assistant, Microsoft has released a hotfix which provides support for Merlin in Windows 7: Microsoft Agent-enabled programs may not work out of in Windows 7 Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in out of office new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Related Posts: This bug was fixed in Outlook 2010 in the July 2011 hotfix. Turning on the feature is very simple both from the Outlook desktop client (outlook 2000/2003/2007) and remotely using the Outlook Web Access client. How to Screencast: How-to Enable the Microsoft Outlook Out of Office Assistant (Auto Response) 1. Open Outlook, Click Tools, Out of Office Assistant 2. Click Radio Button I am currently Out of the Office, Type the Text you wish to be sent to the people who send you email (note my example text below) and Click OK The text Out of Office will be displayed on the bottom right corner of your Outlook client as a reminder that your Out of Office Assistant is enabled and your Out of Office Auto-Reply will respond to anyone who sends you email. I think Microsoft did this because many people (myself included) forget to turn off the Out of Office Assistant when they return to the office. Granted, only 1 Out of Office auto-reply will be sent to each Sender however the reminder is handy. The Out of Office Reminder also has another purpose, Disabling the Out of Office Auto-Reply Assistant! To Disable simply Click the Down Arrow on the Out of Office Reminder and Click Turn off Out of Office auto-replies More Reading: About Steve Krause A Seattle native, Steve Krause is a life-long geek and founder of groovyPublishing.
