ERROR [HY000] Out of memory while reading tuples. From: "Dave Page"
memory while reading tuples. The strange thing is, I have plenty of memory space left and it only happens when I request data in a certain order. Can anyone perhaps shed some light on this problem? With kind http://osdir.com/ml/db.postgresql.odbc/2005-11/msg00005.html regards, Paul Thread at a glance: Previous Message by Date: Re: Declare/Fetch > -----Original http://www.alphasoftware.com/alphaforum/showthread.php?110104-Out-of-memory-when-reading-tuples-in-new-Active-Link-Table Message----- > From: Johann Zuschlag [mailto:zuschlag2@xxxxxxxxx] > Sent: 02 November 2005 13:02 > To: Dave Page; anoopk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; > pgsql-odbc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Declare/Fetch > > Hi Dave, hi Anoop, Hi Johann, Unfortunately Anoop et al. are out for a few days, so I'm desperately trying to understand and fix this before 8.1 :-( > In qresult.c you still find: > > 515 out of if (fetch_count < fetch_count) > > Declare/Fetch will not work without changing that, i.e. just > fetch one line. > > 515 if (fetch_count < num_backend_rows) > (Dave's proposal) > > seems to be a better choice. Updated in my local copy (thanks) - unfortunately not a fix to the bug reported by Marko. I have narrowed it down some more though - it's not so much a colwise issue, as a bind issue. You can see out of memory it with the following: 1) Set cache size to 2 and enable Declare/Fetch 2) Connect 3) SQLExecDirect "SELECT relname FROM pg_class" 4) Bind to column 1 5) SQLFetch 6) SQLFetch 7) SQLFetch *bang* :-) I'm largely unfamiliar with this part of the code so any help would be appreciated. FWIW, the bug seems to be libpq version specific - it's certainly not in 07.xx. Hi Dave, I just thought that we have some kind of problem with memory allocation in bind.c (line 210 -230?). Maybe that one below is linked to it. Seems that declare/fetch allocates to much memory and crashes. Only strange thing is Anoop didn't change anything there. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the libpq internals. regards Johann Leendert Paul Diterwich: Dear all, When reading via the 8.00.01.02 odbc driver I get the error: ERROR [HY000] Out of memory while reading tuples. I'm using Alpha Five V11 Build 4187, running on Windows 7 Pro X64 with 16Gb Ram. I have defined an external AlphaDAO Data Source (A Postgres 9.2 Database), the 32 bit PSQLODBC Drivers have been installed and work fine with other third party tools, and I can import any number of tables into Alpha apart from one (which just so happens to be the one I need most!). It is allowing me any combination of ~32 columns but any more than that and I get the error "4 - Out of memory while reading tuples. SQL State is: HY001'". The HY001 error suggests "The driver was unable to allocate memory required to support execution or completion of the function", according to Microsoft, but it doesn't explain why many other tables can be imported successfully, some with many hundreds of records, and I have ample memory available. It only seems to happen on this one table. Has anyone come across anything similar to this and can suggest how to et around it? Thanks Andy EDIT===> apologies admin, could you move this post into the Alpha V11 desktop applications please? <
