the issue. If the resolution is supported or following the above steps did not help, we suggest reinstalling out of range monitor windows xp the drivers for your monitor and video card by following the remainder of the steps. In Safe Mode, open the Windows Device Manager. Once in Device Manager, expand the "Display https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/monitor-out-of-range-whats-is-this-251032/ adapters" and "Monitors" sections and remove each of the devices listed under those two sections. You can do this by highlighting each device and pressing the delete key. Once the Display adapters and Monitors have been removed, reboot the computer and let Windows reinstall the drivers for these devices. If Windows cannot find the drivers or you need updated http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001265.htm drivers for either of these devices, see the computer drivers section. If after following the steps above, your monitor still displays the " Input signal out of range" error message, you may have a bad monitor or bad video card. Try one or both of the following options to determine if the monitor or video card is potentially bad. Connect your monitor to another working computer. If the monitor works on another computer, then your computer potentially has a bad video card. Borrow a working monitor from a friend or family member and connect it to your computer. If that monitor works, then your monitor is likely bad and should be replaced. If that monitor does not work as well, then your computer potentially has a bad video card. After trying the options above, if you find that the issue may be a bad video card, we recommend that you replace the video card or have it professionally repaired. Sep 22, 2007 #2 Po`Girl TS Rookie Posts: 595 1.Your screen resolution is set to something higher than what your monitor can display. Or 2.The refresh rate you selected a certain resolution is higher than what your monitor supports. Solution - Go into Safe mode (tap F8 at start up) and change resolution back where it was before you or the game you just played changed the setting. This discussion is locked No guru Level 1 (0 points) Q: Attention Out of Range error message In the middle of booting up, my G3 Mac screen goes black and this message appears: "Attention Out of Range H: 79.8 KHz V: 75.0 Hz". I've noticed the tenths number will sometimes vary, but the result is the same. Once the message appears, I cannot get into my computer. It still makes sounds like it is finishing the boot process, but the screen remains with that message. The only way to remove it is to reboot from CD and then restart. (The message also appears in the reboot process, but comes out of it once booting is complete). I don't change any settings, just booting from CD will fix it until the next time I shut down the computer. I have an Envision monitor which is set to millions of colors and a resolution of 1024 x 768, 85.00 Hz. My other resolution choices are: 640 x480, 85 Hz800 x 600, 85 Hz1280 x 1024, 60 HzThe computer used to do this only occasionally, usually after one of my kids played an old CD game that would require the computer to change the screen resolution. If the power shut off while the game was active, then I'd get this message. But now it does it every time I boot (with or without the kid's games having been played). Please help me fix this problem, this is driving me nuts! The settings in those files are usually transferred to PRAM during the shutdown process, so that they are available at the next startup. Some things that may
