I am running a late 2011 Macbook Pro. I have been trying to render an old project in Final Cut Pro 7 and every time I tried it said "you don't have the right codec". I checked for updates for the system and found one for video formats. Downloaded and didn't work. Funny thing is they have been releasing new updates every day since i started having the problem so
frustrating. I had this error today while working on a project with a lot of large jpg images in it, which always seems to make FCP7 go a bit weird, but thankfully Larry Jordan is to the rescue once again with a great http://jonnyelwyn.co.uk/film-video-editing-tools-for-editors/final-cut-pro-fcp-apple-fcp7/how-to-fix-fcp7-out-of-memory-error/ short tip on solving this problem. Extra Tip: If anything ever goes a bit wonky in FCP, its a good idea to try trashing the preferences (see this simple article from Larry Jordan) and also ‘Saving a project as…' - which http://www.lafcpug.org/phorum/read.php?1,281645,281678 can help rebuild the internal workings of a project. In both cases this didn't help me as what I needed to do was resize some overly large jpg images to a more FCP friendly scale. It's always the last thing you out of try. If I close the program and re-open, it will allow the scene to render, but I obviously can't keep opening and closing the project every time I want to render a scene out. So can non-self-contained (reference) movie files, non-optimized media (eg. H.264 .movs or MP4s), or too many video tracks. www.derekmok.com Reply Quote epp Re: FCP 7: Error - Out of Memory occurring too frequently! And if so, do you know of a good "workable/acceptable" size? Thanks epp Reply Quote derekmok Re: FCP 7: Error - Out of Memory occurring too frequently! While ppi is irrelevant to video work (since you're not printing anything), images at a high ppi are very taxing to an FCP project, and CMYK images can make a render fail outright. When you change the ppi, remember to readjust the height and width of the image in pixels to what it's supposed to be. Remember to duplicate all still images and rename them before you mess with the pictures, since these changes are permanent. If you make a mistake, you need to be able to revert
